Thank you all for taking the time to read through my profile! I need help narrowing a school list down and wondering about my chances in getting into any MD program. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Country/state of residence: CA (Asian male/Immigrant/Financially Disadvantaged)
  • UCSD Graduate 2017
  • Strong ties to Illinois

Cumulative GPA: 3.65 (strong upward trend)

Science GPA: 3.65

MCAT Scores: 510 (128/124/127/131)

Research: 300hr Pharmocology Lab (no presentations/pubs)

Mainly cultured bacteria, ran assays, and collected data to create small presentations to present in laboratory meetings

Volunteering (clinical) – include hours/sites: 200hrs (100 in rural Honduras and rural Nicaragua) [VP Finance]

I'm aware of voluntourism, but I'm extremely interested in working with under-resourced communities with medicine in the future and wanted to experience international medicine for the first time

Physician shadowing – include hours/specialties: 105 (75 Psychiatry + 15 Dermatology + 20 Internal Med)

Non-clinical volunteering:

• 100 hours teaching the visually impaired dance and yoga
• 200 hours teaching kids and seniors at resource centers hip hop dance
• 250 hours spearheading a project to raise money to send impoverished students from Zimbabwe and Guatemala to pursue higher education
• 300 hours (VP Service of my Fraternity) various community service events such as Habitat for Humanity (done quarterly), Food banks, Beach/Campus clean-ups [Recognized by the school for service and won the President's Volunteer Service Award]

Clinical Employment:

• 1400 hours: Scribe in ED
• 1000 hours: TMS Technician (Depression therapy)

MISC activities:

• 150 hours: TA for Biochemistry
• 500 hours: AVP Academic Affairs (Student Government)

Hobies:

• Weightlifting and dancing

You have a good list but Ohio State, Dartmouth and Rochester are reaches and Toledo accepts few non residents with no connection to the state or region.
