Hello

I am hoping to apply to this application cycle with these stats. I was wondering if my list of schools or if I should add/take off any. I was also hoping for guidance with not applying this cycle and possibly taking a gap year so I am not a reapplicant.

You have several state public schools on your list that admit very few non residents with a MCAT of 504 and no connection to the state. I suggest these schools with your stats:
U Wisconsin (reach)
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
Oakland Beaumont
Wayne State
TCU
NOVA MD
Albany
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Drexel
Loma Linda (if you fit their mission)
Also apply broadly to DO schools and I suggest these:
CCOM
MU-COM
DMU-COM
ATSU-KCOM
KCU-COM
AZCOM
TUNCOM
CUSOM
PCOM
NYITCOM
Touro-NY
UIWSOM

  • 500+ hours research
  • 250+ hours volunteering
  • 200+ hours in clubs, mostly centered around STEM
  • 150+ hours shadowing
  • 100+ hours coaching
The pluses don't help. The lack of detail does not help either. This is not a completely transactional process. The hours and metrics give us a sense of whether you can avoid getting screened out, but we need the detail as well.

Coaching is an advanced competency of your athletic ability so it doesn't add to your application so much, even if you are volunteering as a coach. STEM mentoring and tutoring adds to science competency and academic competency, as does research. Volunteering doesn't mean anything; clinical or non-clinical? 150 shadowing: how much in primary care?
