Hi everyone,
Georgia Resident, Asian, US Citizen
AACOMAS undergrad GPA- 3.07
AACOMAS sGPA- 3.23
MCAT - 512 (127/128/128/130)
AACOMAS cumulative GPA (with Master's)- 3.19
Master's GPA - Biomedical Engineering - 3.95
Upward Trend
3.78 last 79 hours
3.82 last 94 hours
I am applying to DO schools and state MD schools for this cycle. I made a serious mistake with plagiarism and collaboration in my first computer science class and ended up with 2 violations in January of 2018. I sincerely regret making this mistake and have subsequently never done anything to get me in trouble for the past 7 years. I plan to be honest and show my clear regret about my mistake.
My question is whether this would sink my application to DO schools. I have a 3.07 UG GPA, a 3.95 Master's GPA (non SMP but Biomedical Engineering), a 3.2 SGPA, and a very high upward trend of 3.78 for the last 79 credit hours. ( had to work multiple jobs to help family financial situation).
My MCAT is a 511, and my research and clinical/nonclinical volunteer hours are in the 1000s. I have really strong extracurriculars and a very directed mission for medicine. I have around 200 hours of shadowing both DO and MD physicians.
How should I be feeling going into the application season?
Do you know any schools that may be targets for me to apply to? How many would be overkill?
Thanks again for all your help
