I'm an OR resident but spent a lot of my childhood and college summers (for research) in Texas

Texas A&M and Carle Illinois have programs that prefer engineering or highly quantitative majors.

I've done a lot of medical device engineering, but I don't have an engineering degree (it was for an engineering-related minor). I think that makes me ineligible for the A&M EnMed program, and I don't have all the physics and math prerequisites for Carle, unfortunately.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm curious, what kind of ties are important for the purpose of med school admissions for Texas? Also, are there any schools on my list that may not look at me due to fewer service-oriented hours?

You only need to demonstrate specific Texas ties for UT Tyler (ties to E Texas)
For the other schools you don’t need to show ties.
Most successful OOS applicants have grades & scores above the TX medians, see MSAR for each school.
