Hi all! I just wanted to know what MD/DO schools are realistic for me with my application. Also, I am hesitant to retake my MCAT, as I want to apply this cycle.

1) cGPA: 3.7 sGPA: 3.55
2) MCAT: 507 (125/127/127/128)
3) State of Residence: NY
4) ORM (Asian)
5) Undergraduate school: a SUNY
6) Clinical experience: 150 hours hospital volunteering, 1000+ scribing
7) Research Experience: 150 hours in neuroscience (summer internship) and 1000+ at undergraduate in microbiology/immunology; paper in-progress
8) Shadowing (50 hours) -- several specialties, including psychiatry, family medicine, geriatrics
9) Non-clinical volunteering -- none
10) Extracurriculars: Multiple leadership positions in undergraduate student club, over three years; Microbiology/ Chemistry TA;
11) Awards: Dean's List, Acceptance to selective Honor's Program
12) Strong letters from MD and research PI

Top choice MD schools right now are SUNY Ubuff and Upstate, but unsure about other schools that would be realistic.

For DO school, top choice is Rowan, NYIT, and PCOM.

No non-clinical volunteering will hold you back, especially since many of the schools with lower median stats are service-oriented. You should try to immediately get started at a homeless shelter, food bank or soup kitchen (or similar activity helping those less fortunate in-person) near you.

I suggest:

Buffalo
Upstate
Downstate
Stony Brook
NYMC
Albany
Rosalind Franklin
Hackensack
Quinnipiac
Vermont
Nova MD
Belmont (when it opens)
Drexel
Penn State

For DO, add these:

Touro NY
UNE
DMU
LECOM
KCU
Marian
