Thanks! The only realistic MD schools with your MCAT of 503 are Mercer and Medical College Georgia. Most of the other schools on your list prefer their own state residents. Apply broadly to DO schools and I suggest these:
PCOM (all schools)
VCOM (all schools except Monroe)
CUSOM
ACOM
LMU-DCOM
UIWSOM
WVSOM
MU-COM
DMU-COM
ATSU-KCOM
KCU-COM
TUNCOM
NYITCOM
Touro-NY
The applicant pool is such that if one gets fewer than 150 hours, schools likely screen them out because there are plenty of applicants with much more hours and deeper experiences. COVID screwed everyone, but people are getting back to in-person service that it is no longer perceived as a valid excuse. Coupled with your relatively low MCAT, you can't afford to give screeners justification to screen you out.How so? I mean covid screwed me bad, it is a somewhat recent opportunity I have been pursuing. Always have been told clinical volunteering>> too. How would 50 hours get me screened out? Funny enough it is my most meaningful experience with good story too. Thanks.
Your app comes across as you have not been involved in much outside of the classroom. You have sufficient clinical experience and shadowing, but low volunteering and haven't been involved with anything else really aside from some tutoring.I hear you out on that for sure. I just didn’t understand how one thing I have just been getting into could hurt me given I have good bit of hours in other categories. Also I know my MCAT is “low” but isn’t that still around average for many DO schools. Thanks!
