Hello everyone, wanted to know if I have a chance anywhere this cycle or maybe I should take another year and boost my app with shadowing, volunteer, research, etc.
  1. Undergrad cGPA: 3.2 AMCAS sGPA: 2.9 AACOMAS sGPA: 3.2
  2. DIY postbacc 18 units sGPA: 3.8
  3. MCAT
    1. 03/2020: 515 127/128/130/130
    2. 05/2022: 514 127/129/130/128
  4. CA ORM resident East asian M
  5. 2019 grad. 4 gap years before applying
  6. California T5, national T20 undergrad
  7. Clinical experience
    1. ED scribe ~1300 hrs
    2. EMT ~1500 hrs paid
    3. EMT ~300 hrs volunteer
      1. Covid testing/vaccine work
      2. Campus/event EMS during undergrad
    4. Dominican Republic medical volunteer ~40 hrs doing mobile clinic for a week in rural areas
  8. Research: ZERO
  9. Shadowing: ~40hrs virtual shadowing
  10. Non-clinical
    1. Health advocate ~200 hrs
      1. Assist patients with public benefits at hospitals
      2. Some leadership experience as shift lead
    2. Teaching ~50 hrs
      1. Mentoring/tutoring at an elementary school after school program
  11. Other EC: Emergency management club
    1. Training chief leading new member training with incident command, etc
  12. Anything else you think might be important: WEAK to MID letters plus 4 gap years but not much to show for those years. School list is still pretty big and needs some narrowing down to a total of about 30 schools. Highly prefer coastal schools because I really like the water but realize I don't have much control/choice/chances due to my lackluster app.

Any advice is much appreciated!!

Virtual shadowing has no value. You can subtract 50 hours from your ED scribing and include those hours as shadowing. You could receive interviews at some DO schools with your stats and I suggest these:
AZCOM
TUNCOM
UIWSOM
KCU-COM
ATSU (both schools)
MU-COM
CHSU-COM
NYITCOM (both schools)
LECOM (all schools)
PCOM (all schools)
WVSOM
UP-KYCOM
LMU-DCOM
WCU-COM
ACOM
ARCOM
Noorda-COM
Touro-Montana
Touro-NY
PNWU-COM
CCOM
DMU-COM
WESTERN
TUCOM-CA
DUQCOM
Your GPAs may be below the cutoff for CUSOM and the VCOMs.
MD schools are unlikely with your GPAs but you could try these:
Loma Linda (if you fit their mission)
California University
UC Riverside (only if you are from that region)
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Albany
New York Medical College
Hackensack
Drexel
Temple
George Washington
NOVA MD
TCU
Creighton
Rosalind Franklin
Medical College Wisconsin
Western Michigan
Oakland Beaumont

You have a chance... if you have actual in-person shadowing (50 hours).

You need something that is not clinical-adjacent in your non-clinical volunteering. Food distribution, transportation services, job placement, shelter work, housing rehabilitation. I appreciate that you connect people TO those resources, but have you volunteered with them? Especially if you are shooting for community-focused schools, you will need a LOT of hours serving the community outside a clinical environment.
