Unfortunately did not match to the one school (UHCOM) I interviewed with this cycle so starting to prepare for reapp. Wondering where I should start trying to improve from in terms of my application. I plan to only apply TMDSAS this upcoming cycle.

Bio:

- Female, URM (Nigerian)

- TX Resident

- GPA: T-30 state school 3.84 cGPA/3.73 sGPA

- MCAT: 507 (128/125/127/127)

- Clinical: 1190 (1050 paid (Registered Behavior Technician) /140 unpaid (Patient Care Assistant at large teaching hospital) )

- Non-Clinical/Volunteering: 220 hrs (Local food bank + virtual assistance for the visually impaired)

- Shadowing: 130 hours (General and Perinatal psychiatrists)

- Research: 160 hours + presentation (public health research)

- Leadership: Student council of my college (legislative body/student-faculty liason), as well as several peer mentor roles.

- LORS: 4 letters, 2 from science professors (1 being an MD), 1 from research supervisor and last from employer) I'm assuming they were pretty strong?

Only update from when I applied initially to now is that I work as a Qualified Mental Health Professional providing case management services to kids and teens facing mental health challenges.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't match. Did you make their waitlist?

I have a question about your clinical experience: you have a ton of hours with psychiatry. Do you have any experience in a traditional clinical setting like internal/family medicine or ER? Where do you work as a PCA (which has so few hours compared to being an RBT)?

I believe they haven't sent out waitlist invitations yet, but I'm hoping to receive one. My experiences as a PCA were at Dell Seton (level 1 trauma center).
