I just got my 3/8 MCAT score back recently and I am debating retaking sometime in May (I have been studying a little bit). Please advise me on my school list and let me know if your thoughts on retaking!

My stats are:
GPA: 3.42 (most likely ending with a 3.47 after this semester)
sGPA: 3.27 (on track to end with 3.0)
Both GPAs have upward trends, I had some unexpected health issues come up my freshman year that really impacted my grades
TX resident
URM
T30 undergrad
(currently a senior, neuroscience major)
MCAT: 507 (127,129,123,128) (My FL average was a 508 and the last 3 were 508,509,510. In all of my FLs my B/B was 126/127 so I'm not sure what happened)
620 clinical hours (550 MA, 70 volunteering)
150 non-clinical volunteering
100 hours shadowing
(2 neurologists, emergency medicine, dermatologist)
800 research hours (2 labs, 1 presentation/no pubs)
240 hours research lab TA
200 hours leadership between 3 student orgs (one volunteer org I founded)

School list:
SHSU
TCOM
UIW
Baylor
UTSW
UH
UTMB
Texas Tech
UTRGV
Dell
Long
TAMU
Meharry
Morehouse
Howard

I'll probably apply to more DO schools, but still researching. Please let me know what you think of my school list, and if anyone has advice about retaking! I'm new to SDN, sorry if anything is confusing!

Congrats on getting thru the MCAT! Not an adcom or anything but IMO 507 is a pretty good score and not super far off from your practice exams, so you might just want to rock with it rather than risk a bad score on retake.

If you're looking at schools in the South outside of Texas, I thought highly of Oklahoma State College of Osteopathic Medicine and ATSU-KCOM.

A 123 B/B is interesting. I don't know how ADCOMs feel about low science subsection scores. My 123 CARS did not stop me from getting interviews this cycle, although overall score was higher. What is the nature of your non-clinical volunteering?

I helped teach conversational English to recently immigrated individuals and distributed food to unhoused populations

Thank you for the advice!! I’ll definitely look into those

Have you connected with mentoring organizations like SNMA or LMSA (if applicable)?
I have done work in some of their programs through partnerships with other organizations, but I haven’t officially been involved in SNMA
