Hi all!

Currently, have applied to 20 schools this application cycle (2019-2020) and have already heard back from one (1R) and no news from 19/20. Just wondering what the timeline for interview invites are like? I understand the wait is part of the process, however, it's starting to get to me at this point. Any input would be great and highly appreciated.

Major: Biology Minor: Finance
WI, Male, ORM
LizzyM: 71.1
Undergrad Institution: Top 20 (Premed Factory School that prides itself on getting most of its grads into med school lol)

cGPA: 3.71 (upward trend)
sGPA: 3.62 (upward trend)
MCAT: 515

Clinical Volunteering: About 200-250 hrs(continuing rn) working with medically complicated children and assisting the nurses and tech's with anything they might need, whether it be reading to the child, playing with the child, or offering them support and comfort. Also, have been fortunate to shadow the CMO and gain knowledge about the intersection of clinical care, healthcare management, and social services.

Research: Currently spending my gap year doing clinical research focused on family-based treatment for families with obesity. Actively receiving case management training and interacting with families, physicians, and mental health workers on a regular basis. Also, have public health research experience with the physical therapy department focusing on research around mindfulness research for the elderly and its therapeutic effects and urban design focused on park location, accessibility, and amenities and how it impacts the surrounding community (Around 100hrs) got two manuscripts out of this. Also, have 400 hrs basic science research experience working in otolaryngology research working with mice and learning basic science lab techniques.

Shadowing: Around 80-90 hrs spread out shadowing various specialties like Oncology, Radiology, Pediatrics, and Nephrology. In hospitals and outpatient clinics

ECs: Was a student academic mentor for undergrads for a year (40 hrs), Residential advisor for undergrads for 2 years (900+hrs) heavily involved with student mental health, academic advising, and in-depth exposure to social justice based issues and advocacy, MCAT Problem Solving Leader through our academic services Dept (75 hrs), TA for Financial Accounting (40 hrs). In my Gap year, have continued to tutor various students in the natural sciences and math, and have joined a startup focusing on solving clinical problems (Trying to get a different perspective on medicine)

Schools applied to:
Georgetown
Washington University (UG)
Mt. Sinai (other super reach)
Wisconsin
MCW
Miami

All others are fine.

@Goro Thank you for the advice. Would u recommend I continue tutoring, volunteering, and working in a bio startup this gap year? Not sure how med schools perceive business

I am quoting this post that LizzyM made last week that made me feel a lot better about the radio silence I've been experiencing. When did you submit your secondaries OP?

By the end of the month, my school will have burned through about 40% of the interview spots and if we have released all the november dates we'll be at barely the half-way mark in terms of interview invitations released.

It is stressful. It takes a long time and you need to be patient. It is like a trip to Mars, or a full-term pregnancy. You just aren't there yet and it takes a long time.

@Sheeshtopher Good point. I have volunteered at a boys and girls club for a semester, and tutored elementary-aged kids for one summer. Also worked in a retail store with a wide customer population. This is a lacking aspect of my app, so will try to build on this. But I just prefer clinical volunteering more
