I'm wanting to raise my GPA to a 3.6, but unfortunately summer classes are extremely expensive
I was wondering, do med schools care if I take these classes elsewhere??

I'm at a tier-1 school right now, and thinking about taking classes at a SUNY.
However, I heard that my college transcript will continue to show a 3.55, so I was wondering how the whole thing will work....
Am I going to send both applications and the med school will do the calculations??

Is there prejudice by medical schools against summer classes elsewhere??

Hmmm, I have met many people who did a couple of semesters at community college and got into top med schools. I don't think it will matter.

AMCAS calculates your GPA from all schools. That said, raising your GPA from 3.55 to 3.6 will really only make a marginal difference.

Do you believe my summer will be better spent doing volunteering and shadowing than taking summer courses??

If I was in your situation I would spend the summer volunteering, shadowing, or abroad. You may also want to consider doing research.
