I asked an adcom and he said that in large part 75% of interviews have gone out AND decisions have been made at most schools but that they have to abide by the Dec 1st date to notify. Should I take this with a grain of salt? Btw this adcom was from UIC

I think it depends largely on the school whether the interview invites are just starting or almost over. And yes a lot of schools meet weekly to discuss who they are going to accept, but can not actually give out this information until Dec 1st.

For the interview invite percentage, that depends on the school but generally it might be close to that number. A lot of places are done giving out pre-December invites, or at least pretty close to it.

Wouldn't be surprised if some decisions have already been made by schools. They are pretty content with penciling-in an invite for the rockstar that interviewed in August with a 4.0 GPA. Luckily for the rest of us that isn't a lot of the applicant pool and schools won't get everybody on their first wish list.

This is in line with what I've heard in my own conversations with adcoms.

it just means that they like to move quickly and get most of the seats filled by dec.
That doesn't mean there will not be dropped seats and continued movements on the waitlist/new interviews. Not to mention that the percentage of accepted/enrolled on dec 1 is not constant year to year.

However, it would be safe to say that your chance of getting into this school is much higher if you interviewed as early possible.
Other schools that interview well into March and April (possibly later), your shot at getting in post-dec is better than this school.

Yeah, that was the vibe I got at UIC. But that might not apply to other schools. UIC knows most of the people they accept will go there, since it's mostly in-staters.

Depends on the school. I'd say they probably have accepted 3/4 of the students to fit a class. However this early in the cycle, most of that 3/4 are top applicants with MANY schools to choose from. SO, I would think they have a long way to go still.

The dean of uconn admissions told us last week (in a presentation for our PHS) that they already know 95% of the people they are going to send acceptance letters for the 2021 class.
