Washington State University Class of 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone else received interview calls/e-mails to schedule an interview? Anyone new been accepted/denied?

One of my friends from the state of Washington was accepted a week or so ago via mail and she doesn't obsess/pay attention to SDN like I do so I thought I would update you all on that. She interviewed Feb. 5 I think, had decent stats (3.5-ish undergrad), about 3 years of tech experience but I was surprised she got an interview and I didn't 🙁. I haven't received my 'official' denial letter but haven't received an offer for an interview either.

Thanks!

She doesn't happen to be from Ohio does she? I was there on the 5th and the chick I chatted with the whole time was from Ohio and she was pretty cool

I'm an in-state student. How about you?

I am out of state. When was your letter mailed out to you? I am trying to figure out if they mailed out all the letters this week already or they are doing it after spring break.

The wait is killing me =/

I interviewed on the 19th and i'm from out of state...I think a lot of us are worried because we were expecting a letter last week and it still haven't arrived yet. =( For those of you who have emailed the office, who did you guys write to?

I know. I felt the same way before. Anyway, good luck to you and I hope you get a good news soon. BTW, my letter was mailed out on Mar 16th.

Thanks. I guess the staffs are busy working through the Spring Break. I hope all the letters are mailed out soon:xf:

I just received my acceptance letter in the mail today!!!! I interviewed on 2/19 at Spokane 🙂

anyone out of state recieved a letter (acceptance or rejection) yet? I am so anxious!

Received my acceptance letter today! Just in time to get my flight refunded before i went to Missoula for my interview there. Can't wait to start!

atyrrell...... are u in state or out of state student? and did the acceptance letter come in a big envelope or regular small one? Thanks and congratssssss

yep big envelope and am in-state and currently attending WSU

I'm an out-of-state applicant (CA) and I just received my fat envelope today. HOORAY!

Good job everyone and good luck for those who are waiting for acceptance letter.

Congratz to everyone! The wait is finally over! Received the big white envelope in the mail!!😍

To be honest, WSU took a while to respond to me, and i was getting veeery nervous. I interviewed on the 2/19, and I heard back only yesterday 3/20, a full month after the fact.

I believe they give out acceptance to a few people after each interview. Then the rest of the candidates receive their acceptance/rejection letters around this time, so don't get mad at them because you aren't the only one. I interviewed back in January and just got my letter on Friday. 🙂 I was nervous like you were, but the result made up for it. O and congratz on your acceptance!

I have been accepted as an out of state resident 🙂 (california) I interviewed on March 5th in Pullman.

Here's a valuable link for others such as I. In short, make sure you get a bank account, get a washington ID (dump your old one), and register to vote within 2-4 weeks of getting into town!

Congrats to all who are accepted!
Does anybody know whether they have evaluated all the pre-reqs before they sent out the acceptance letter?
I do not want them to go "oh by the way this course does not meet the pre-req" after the summer...:scared:

They haven't. At least, not for me. Our offer is provisional based completion of the pre-reqs and on those courses being equivalent.

I called Teresa today and she said our pre-reqs have been evaluated during the admission review. She said they would have contacted us if there was something wrong with the courses.

There should not be a huge problem as long as we complete all the pre-reqs as we indicated on the application.🙂

Sorry, I was wrong. I spoke to her today and got the same answer!

off topic but does anyone know if there are any community colleges in the area (pullman)? or any schools that will take international students that have only completed about 1 year of schooling?

To nujey453,

Is Teresa working at the office during spring break?

Their Spring Break was last week, so their class is in session now. Teresa is pretty busy, so she might not pick up the phone the first time. Just try calling her back several times. I'm sure you will hit the jackpot once.

hey bud... so your from ca.. me too!! did you accept to go to wsu??

I got my acceptance letter this past monday!!

I am from CA as well! San Francisco to be exact, what part of ca are you guys from?

Im from the sacramento area... so pharmsomething... are you planning to attend wsu in the fall??

to lub dub, yup, looking forward to that cold, cold winter. What about you? are u attending wsu as well? (Btw, i am familiar with the sacramento area, did you go to davis?)

Hi everyone, I'm a PY1. For those of you who interviewed at Pullman, you might've seen me as an ambassador. You'll also see me as public relations director in one of the pharm organizations next year.

Anyway, I'm from CA (S.F. Bay), and us non-WA students are starting to work on the residency appl. Here are pointers for things some of us are struggling with.

a BIG #1 is to make sure you are financially able to pay (and prove) >51% of the estimated tuition. Most likely you won't have a job that makes this much, so be sure to get this amount in loans under your name. You're parents also have to take you off as a dependent on their taxes come april of your first year. Previous students were denied because of these things.

Also, they give you a 30 day leeway for the whole 12-months thing, so don't get stressed to get everything done the second you get here. Just take things slow because the change in environment can be pretty overwhelming.

Oh yea, and congrats to those who got accepted!! If you didn't, don't give up. Just getting an interview shows great things about you.

pharmsomething, yeah i graduated ucdavis last summer... what about you? where did you do your undergrad?? I did accept the offer... i guess the cold weather will be a very interesting experience 😀

to snowball.. thanks for the tip... so hows your experience been overall in wa... weather, school, etc? did you apply to any scholarships?

I graduated UCDavis 2009 too!! Pullman's like Davis (ie rely on campus buses to get around)

Pullman will definitely be a culture shock. The pharmacy college itself is really diverse with people from all over, but the undergraduate students on campus are mainly local (aka, only ~5% minorities). The pharm program is one of the best in the nation, which is the main reason I chose to go to WSU instead of my CA ones. (grr, Touro for taking my $2000 deposit, lol)

Snow's not that bad. This was actually the very time I've ever seen snow. California girl through and through. Because it's also an undergrad campus, we get access to the gym/libraries, and every other Fri they show new movies for free in the union building

1) if there were any prereq problems, admissions should have already contacted you during the initial application process.

2) the office may be slow getting back to you because its only 3 people, who also handle the PY1s/PY2s who are registering for classes now

3) for you norcal people, i would say Pullman=Davis, Seattle=S.F. and Spokane=Sacramento

4) Apts are cheap (need to depend on school buses), Dorms are convenient (literally the next building over)

5) the wsu website may be hard to find things, but you gotta look 'cause it's all there

Hi snowballmouse,
Thank you for giving us many useful info about WSU. Im wondering if:
1. WSU uses block system cuz i saw the class schedule online with block 1,2,3, etc...
2. No class during summer.....so i guess we still have to stay around WA for our rotations right?

Thank you very much!

Hey everyone!!! so whos all going to attend wsu this fall?? I totally want to meet the whole class.. like now 😀

No, we do semesters. So Fall Semester (with 1 wk off for thanksgiving), then 3 wks off for christmas, then Spring Semester (with 1 wk off for spring break). there are a handful of 3day weekends thrown in there too. so it never gets too overwhelming. 🙂

End in early may, and have the whole summer off until fall sem again in late aug. each summer we have to stay/go back for a short 3 wk rotation, but we have like 4 months off in the summer total 🙂

so where are you guys from??? in state or out of state??

Hello everyone!

I am so thankful to be accepted. I can't wait!

Does anyone know what we can do ahead of time to take care of any housing?

What about roommates?

What's better for us pharmacy grad students? Dorms? Apts?

Cars are needed in the area, right?

**found the answer for those of you who might need information!
-Find our own housing and roomates! Apts are cheaper, most 95% of students live on off-campus apts.
-Cars aren't necessary but convenient. Pullman is a small town.

No idea either. I just came back from vacation 😎 and sent out my transcripts and the immunization form. Anyone know when we get our ID?
