I've just got interview invitation from Washington University in St. Louis. I know that their med school is ranked pretty high but does anyone know about their path training program ?

Is it considered to be a top-notch path training program or not ?

Any input would be appreciated.

Wash U is widely considered one of the best programs for path- in particular clinical path. A number antibodies in use today were developed there. Did you not know this when you applied? There are also a huge number of research opportunities there- if that is what turns you on.

I agree, Wash U is one of the top programs in the country. They have some huge names that have been there (Juan Rosai and Loren Ackerman just to name a few). Some of the attendings at my program (IU) trained there and seem to be very well trained. Also, it is a good place to go if you want to do research/academic path. The downside to Wash U is that you will work very hard (late grossing, etc).

Wow... Thanks for the input.

I did not know that Ackerman was there.
They told me that Louis P. Dehner is there as program director for AP program and is a very well known person in Peds path and their CP is also very strong. One of the attendings actually emailed me telling about their program and he admitted that residents work very hard there but will have lots of good job opportunities when they graduate either in academics or in private market. Anyway, I'll be able to go there and see for myself in a week.

Ackerman was there, has since passed on. Rosai has moved around a lot. It is a historic program.

I got an interview there, but may decline. I feel bad about that because I would probably like it, but I have already interviewed at some programs that seem a better fit for me personally.
