WashU decision dates, adcom meetings

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm guessing that if you sent them another letter within the next couple of days, you'd still have a chance to catch someone's eye. From the thread so far, it seems like the list is just starting to move. Best of luck ReDox:luck:

OMG, you sent letters of intents to FIVE SCHOOLS?!? I thought we weren't allowed to do that! I only sent one to my top choice, and even after I was rejected I didn't send any more to the other schools. Maybe I should go do that!

Eh, my first LoI pretty much covered everything and if I write another one it will just be repeating it and won't be as good.

If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, then oh well, I can comfort myself that I even got on the waiting list. 😛

But again, congrats to you. It must be a great feeling. 🙂

Guys, This is really the end of the line for me. Now I really know I won't get in. My no name school that maybe has one or two people in all four classes now this year has had four or five people accepted who plan on attending. There is no way in hell they would want six people from my school, so if I didn't get in through the first round, I'm not going to get in. Bye bye WashU 🙁

What school is this??

Did those of you who got in off the wait list send in a letter of intent or anything?

Hey admitme, I did send a 1 1/2 page or so letter of interest (not intent) sometime in March and then also e-mailed Dean Dodson in April to let him know I was still interested (I had his business card because I had him for my short second interview, so I figured it would be ok). No decision for me yet, but good luck to you guys waiting!

I'm not sure if this thread is even concerned with this anymore, but...

I got a call from Dr. Dodson yesterday, 5PM EDT. Got in off the waitlist.

Congratz😍

Man, a 1.5 page LoI? I wrote maybe half a page. 🙁 I guess it makes me look like an uninterested slacker.

I'm in off the waitlist, but I can't decide between Washington University and University of Washington. I can't even talk about it because of how confusing it is to refer to them both.

So it seems like they've definitely finished their first round of acceptances.

Congrats!

Wow congrats guys. You fellows are one lucky bunch, hopefully we'll be getting a call one of these days as well. :luck:

Hey guys, withdrew from the waitlist...good luck to the rest of you.:luck:

No word yet either, this sucks!

hey guys, i highly doubt they are done giving out acceptances. i just had to reply on monday (i am going!), but if most of the people in the first batch just had to reply a couple of days ago, they are probably still figuring out how many more acceptances to extend in the next round.

good luck everyone!

Congrats Pickle, so you mind sharing why you chose WashU (Not that anyone here would care, I think everybody on this thread would choose WashU in a heartbeat)?

Well, it was a tough choice that involved many factors, including cost, boyfriend's job issues, etc., but I finally went with my gut. I really only applied to Wash U because the secondary was cheap and easy and I was expecting not to really like it before I visited, but I ended up falling in love with it on my interview day. The students seemed like real, normal people with lives outside of school (though you could tell they were reeeally smart), the facilities were absolutely gorgeous, and the administration seemed very supportive. I got a great vibe from everyone I met there and realized how much I really miss the midwest. I'm from Chicago but have lived on both coasts in the last few years, and I finally believe that people from the midwest are the friendliest!

Good luck everyone, and post as soon as you hear anything!

I am going to withdraw my WashU acceptance when I hear their fin aid award (unless it is ridiculously good). So, someone will be getting my spot in the next few days. For 50 bucks I will tell Dodson to give it to you 😛

Thanks MyGoldTeeth. Check your inbox for my account info, please don't withdraw more than 50 😛
Man, this is worse than the after-interview waiting. I think if I don't get in in the next few days, I'll withdraw. I was always the type who would rather quit than get fired😎

Will you put it on auction? I'm sure you can make much more.

Just make sure you can happily live in a town without a major highway system for the next 6 years. (STL)

hey,

I withdrew my spot at WashU on Tuesday. Hopefully that means one more spot for someone on the waitlist. Good luck

Hang in there guys. My call didn't come until June 15th last summer, and I know some of my classmates were even later. Best of luck to everyone!

Just withdrew from the waitlist. Good luck to the rest of y'all.

What? Have you ever been to St. Louis?

Yeah, its no LA, but it still has a major highway system...

He was referring to the fact that Highway 40, the main highway for all of St. Louis is now undergoing like a 20-year re-building period, during which (in the next 4 years) parts of the highway will be completely closed. I'm from St. Louis ... it's gonna be an absolute mess.

I got in off waitlist on 6/7...now I have to decide between WashU and Pritzker...any thoughts because I am now very confused 😱?

Eeeek, two awesome schools. You are in a very pleasant dilemma🙄

I have no idea, seriously.

I'll tell you what my friend, chicago is a very different town from st. louie. I am a native st. louisan myself, and here's the thing: If you love the modern urban environment, you will find a closer resemblence of that in chicago. WashU is an absolute gem in the medical world and you should consider that too. It really just depends on what kind of place you want to begin your medical training in. Where are you now, and what are your hopes for this career? Consider that, and one school should stand out. Good luck, and congrats!😱😱😱😱😱😱🙄🙄🙄🙄😉

Thanks Pickleluvrrr for your reply.
It seems like the rush of admittances given in mid May slowed down. Has anyone gotten THE call from Dean Dodson recently?

I did. Today. It was pretty unexpected, and I'm actually not sure what to do. I'm in at Northwestern. Any advice? 😕

Thanks! 🙂

I hope so, because I don't have any reception where I work.

Definately go WashU, I mean if you have any aspirations of doing research at all because NW just doesn't cut it as an academic institution. Chicago is great, but I have also heard good things about St. Louis, and rent is like half the price. Also you need to decide how attached to PBL and independent study (NW) you are. Good luck!:luck:

We haven't heard anything for a while now...

Is it time to give up hope?

I just called the admissions office and the lady I talked to said that the waitlist movement was slow to none...

I know this thread is old but is there any hope at this point? Do people drop out the day before class? Thanks!

I got a call from the dean yesterday in my dream... does that count?
i must've dreamt of over 10 different first responses to THE CALL.

They say that it's possible, but I wouldn't count on it. My orientation starts next Wed, and I think Wash U starts a week after that. So I've pretty much given up hope already.
