Watch pathoma or read FA pathology?
Started by BruceWilly
Unless you're coming right up against your test date, why not do both? You can get through most sections of Pathoma in less than 90 minutes.
For me, there are certain things that Pathoma just simply doesn't mention which are in FA and there are things in FA that I simply wouldn't retain without Pathoma.

If I'm going to get through Uworld once, my mornings and afternoons are booked. Maybe I'll watch pathoma with first aid open. That way I can visually organize things in my head.
So I'm doing Uworld in the mornings/afternoons, and reviewing weaknesses in first aid during the evenings. Would it be more efficient to read first aid pathology or watch pathoma? I've done a couple of passes through each.
I did both - skimmed FA path first then annotated with Pathoma (except for the units where I had already annotated FA, and then I just read that and looked through Pathoma pictures).

True but I do think that one should ideally read each section of Pathoma at least 3 times. That is after watching the videos. Reading each section three times should take you a few hours.
I've done FA and started watching Pathoma a couple of weeks ago. Pathoma is great in helping you organize info about different tumors and pathologies of the organ systems, but you may often find yourself needing to go back to First Aid for more info about labs and findings. As much as I love First Aid, for chapters like heme-onc, renal, repro..I'd be lost without Pathoma. It just really organizes the material for you, and will make you remember certain things without having to sit for hours memorizing them.

Ahah, thanks. It was a tough pick between this or Promethea.
Also, I second that after watching Pathoma, the chapters have to be re-read once or twice. I find that Pathoma generally makes pathophys/pathology principles second nature.

I actually read the chapters 3 times afterwards. I haven't taken step 1 yet so we'll see how it goes but for path I'm just using Pathoma+UWorld.Ahah, thanks. It was a tough pick between this or Promethea.
