Hey everyone. I am currently a student entering second year university in Ontario who is considering pharmacy. I'm in the process of completing my prerequisites right now for Waterloo and UofT. However, I would need to take 10 courses to complete all of my prereqs by the end of second year. I felt that this would be detrimental to my GPA if I tried to rush too much. In the end I decided to leave microbiology (required for Waterloo) and physics (Required for UofT - since I didn't take grade 11/grade 12 physics...only the equivalent in 1st year uni) for the summer or third year. The reason I didn't take these courses is because I had heard about the difficulty of Orgo 1 and 2 and since I'm very weak in physics...I felt it would be better just to tackle them separately.
This leads me to my main question. I am somewhat unsure of how the application process works for both schools. I know that Waterloo starts its curriculum in January, though? If I don't end up taking microbio and physics until third year, could I still apply at the beginning of my third year (September 2012) even though I'm not done the courses at the time of my application (but am expected to complete at the end of the term). Would I still be able to apply to begin in the January 2013 cycle for Waterloo?
Also for UofT, how does the application work? I'm just afraid that if I hold back on taking those two courses, I'd be wasting an entire year...since I wouldn't be able to apply at the end of second year. If I DO apply at the end of 2nd year though, do I need all of my prereqs done, or just proof that you will be finished them before the application is due? Sorry for sounding really confusing. It all seems very complicated and I'm worried about making a mistake with my course selections. Thanks for any help 😀.
