Hey,

Why does frequency stay constant and wavelength change when entering a new medium?

Do we need memorize the wavelengths that correspond to each portion of the electromagnetic spectrum?

Thanks

yes, frequency remains constant and the wavelength changes. You should have a general idea of the wavelength.

need help on this question..
the most fundamental equation of the wave theory of light relates to the 3 basic paramenters of wave motion: wavelength,frequency of oscillation and speed of propagation,the group equation which is or are correct?
A.speed = wavelength x frequency
B.wavelength = speed/ frequency
C.frequency = speed /wavelength
D.wavelength = speedx frequency

thanking you for your assistance.cheers!

To quote the late Michael Jackson, "that's easy as A-B-C". A is the fundamental equation, and B and C are the same thing rewritten.

Now to quote some of my favorite mods around this place: "Please refrain from posting the same message twice." It's part of the agreement you clicked "accept" on when you registered. Even though like most of us you probably didn't read every word, you are still expected to play the game the way it suggests.

With that aside, welcome to the site!
