i don't know if this is old news or not, but I found out that the final interview invitations are going out on wednesday.

Wayne interviews through Mar 20th-ish.

Have you received an Access ID yet? The material sent with the acceptance letter said that we should be getting Access ID information in January. I haven't submitted my FAFSA (will do this weekend), so I'm wondering if that's the hold-up or if they're just behind.

I ask because I'd like to get my scholarship application submitted as soon as possible.

I was in the admissions office today and I heard the lady at the front on the phone telling someone that they had not updated the names in the computer yet... that it might take another couple of days to get it done and send out the invites.

So I would call starting wed or thurs to check on your status if you can't wait for the mail.

I called Wednesday, as of then my status still hadn't changed. They said they were updating statuses Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. You might get updated you might not. I'm going to try again Friday but not getting my hopes up.

You are going to have the school all to yourself as we will be on vacation that week. 😉 Of course the second years have a different break than us so they'll still be there.

In response to my stats, I had a 3.7 overall GPA, 3.6 science GPA with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Western Michigan University, and 29R on my MCAT. I had some great letters of recommendation from my biochemistry professor / dean of arts & sciences college who named me Chemistry Student of the Year, from some Ph.D's where I work as an analytical chemist, and also from a Counselor whom I did a lot of community service with. I won a few scholarships and presented my organic chemistry research. Some of my other EC's are: shadowing a pathologist, cardiac, general, and orthopedic surgeons, ER and nursing home volunteering, TA'ing chem & bio classes, 2+ years of pharmaecutical research, working as a community service resident assistant for 2 yrs, first aid medic training, captain of multiple different intramural teams, and a few other community service things.

I think my bummer of a MCAT kept me from getting an interview from Wayne thus far. I'm just happy to have a chance this late!

Scowdeva, did you try to call Wayne yet today? I called and she said my status is still 'possible interview.' However, wasn't today the day all of their new interviewee names were to be in? Plus I've noticed people have already received interview notices. I don't know why I still have that status and why she didn't just simply say it's not going to happen this year. Does anyone have anymore insight regarding this last interview cycle?

I just got off the phone with them, and she told me that I am still under consideration and that they will be sending out more invites next week. I'm not holding my breath, but according to the lady over there they still have invites to give out for the season.

Hey Scowdeva. Thanks for the info. Here's an email I just got back from admissions regarding this topic:

"We have extended the interview schedule and will be interviewing through the second week of April. We will be sending out more interview invitations next week."

So....don't lost hope yet. It isn't over until it's over, and it's not over till April!

The one they sent me doesn’t work. I'm going to call the admissions office on Monday to see what the deal is. Also did anyone else sign up for the financial aid workshop on April 12? Does anyone have information of the number of people attending and if they provide you with lunch?

I'm thinking most are, because tuition is high for OOSers and U of M barely takes any instaters, therefore most instaters go to Wayne instead. Also, I think almost half the class went to from U of M for undergrad, if I'm not mistaken (I know it's a lot that hail from ann arbor, anyway).

To clarify...
The vast majority of WSU's class is typically in-state (partly because WSU is even more rediculously expensive for OOSers).
Yes, lots of people come from UM (but not as many as fisko82 suggested). I don't have the stats in front of me at the moment (if you went on the tour on your interview day the guides should have had them), but IIRC approx. 1/3 of my class went to UM for undergrad.

Also to add: my state of residency is Michigan, but I have lived in Virginia Beach fro four years now (husband is military). Where from Penn are you from?

seeing as how I have been long ago rejected by WSU, I didn't really expect to ever hear from them again...so I just found it interesting today when they sent a letter trying to sell me on their Ph.D. program in Cancer Biology...it actually sounds like an amazing program, but I was just wondering if anyone else happened to have this experience (i.e. perhaps you aren't cut out for our medical school, but we might want you in our grad school😛)???

First i would like to start by being honest. I really didn't realize that Cheif was spelled "Chief" and i would like to thank my fellow desi for pointing that out....

and since i am in the mood of being honest...i would also like to say that ilikefudge i already knew u were desi from your mdapplicants link and i just asked you to start a conversation even though i knew it would prob lead to nothing..

Also it was great to hear from Piyush. Eventhough i have only talked to him twice i get a great aura coming from him. Like he is a great person that is destined to make a difference in the world...(im not just saying that)

And lastly its sad that that even though all of us might be in the same entering class we will probably never get to interact that much because the class has like 300 people in it....

i sure hope so... someone said that if you buy a house or condo in michigan, then you can declare residency and then you can pay IS tuition, but i'm not too sure...
