Can anyone provide info on wayne state. I did a search and didn't find much info. From what I've read they are relatively strong in TBI and have a decent balance between outpatient and inpatient training throughout the three years. if anyone else has any info about the program, residents, life in detroit id appreciate it. thanks

just an FYI, as of 2-3 years ago, Wayne state now has 2 programs: Wayne State/Detroit Med Center/Rehab Hospital of Michigan and Wayne State/Oakwood Hospital. As I understand it, the former is a rehab hospital only and only offers advanced positions, whereas the latter is a community hospital (Oakwood) and its positions are all categorical.

I would also appreciate it if anyone had any insight into the differences in competitiveness (for program applicants) between the two programs.

Sorry, was asking about Wayne state DMC

There are 2 WSU PMR programs. The original is located at Detroit Medical Center at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan and has been an accredited program for 40+ years. This program is very strong in inpatient rehab and is a center of excellence in spinal cord injury and is a model system for traumatic brain injury. The outpatient experiences offer outstanding sports medicine with the the physicians who are the providers for the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons. The PMR outpatient experiences offer ample botox, phenol, interventional spine and EMG as well as MSK, amputee, MS, GBS, TM SCI, TBI, CVA.
One misnomer is that this program is thought of Wayne State however it is sponsored by Detroit Medical Center with major affiliation with Wayne State University Physician Group.
All graduating residents tend to match into very competitive fellowships including Anesthesia Pain, PMR Pain, Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury if they choose that route. Otherwise they are accepting lucrative offers in both private and academic practices.
I cannot mention much regarding the Oakwood/WSU program other than they have been in existence since 2009.
