so I know that you can do mock interviews with your school, and research questions online,

But what other ways do people prepare for interviews. I am most stressed about this part because when I have to talk on the fly, I often start talking about something I shouldn’t/go on about stuff to the point where I forget the question, get super nervous (to the point where I’ve felt my heart pump really heavily), my ability to think on the fly in an interview setting is terrible, and my ability to speak eloquently is diminished.

I normally am not bad at talking but for some reason I’ve always hated the idea of interviews and everything about them.

Since you don’t have problems with coming up with answers and don’t have a problem speaking, it seems like it’s your anxiousness that needs work. Do super hero pose in the bathroom. Shake off the nerves. Stretch. BREATHE. Pretend it’s a conversation with a professor.

And don’t freak out. I’ve come to learn that even if you perceive yourself as displaying nervousness, the interviewer actually might not be seeing the same. Having conduct mock interviews, I’ve been told by interviewees that they felt like they were being too nervous during the mock interview. Me? I told them the truth that I didn’t see any sign of that.

Yeah I was def tired/nervous with my first interviewer and mildly so with my second one. That doesn't mean they necessarily noticed or if they did found it problematic.

I think it varies between invidual. It’s some sort of self-fulfilling prophecy I suppose?

I was wrong. It was an outside team that debunked it. It was based on a single study with a very small sample population (n=21). They reported participants felt more powerful and had increased levels of testosterone and decreased levels of cortisol, plus behavioral changes. When an outside team tried to replicate it with 100 participants, there was no effect. The original paper was analyzed and shown to be a fluke basically. It’s junk science.

Darn, my life has been a lie...

Take a couple seconds after the question to just think about what your answer is going to be. A short pause will allow you to steady your nerves and is a lot better than blurting out random things. If you don’t have issues with coming up with answers, then maybe you just need time to allow your brain to catch up to your mouth.
