Hey guys,

I just joined SDN! And I'm a Dent hopeful! 🙂 I'm currently studying within the dental field as an undergrad though (I'm not studying in the States) so I've been getting quite a lot of experience with restorations and all that.

Just a quick question, how do you guys practise your hand-eye coordination at home? I struggle with indirect vision and cutting a cavity on the maxillary teeth. Is there any way to practise this at home?

I would also like to learn more about this as well as how can one become more skilled with their hands? A few friends suggested origami. What do you guys think?

It may be useful if you do origami in a mirror inside a little box using hand tools.

That sounds like a great idea! I guess doing most things whilst watching yourself in a mirror would definitely help!

Just wondering how you guys improved on cutting a restoration on the uppers?

Haha sorry I was mostly joking about the origami with hand tools...the only way I have gotten better at preps is doing them. There isn't much I know of that simulates it with that I know of besides actually doing it. You could possibly draw outlines in the mirror just to continue training your brain to use indirect vision?

Oh, hahaha. My bad, it's quite hard to tell tone over the internet! ( I also missed the hand tools part of your reply!).

Yeah, I've just started doing that although I don't use a mirror at home since I don't have a mirror small enough to prop up on my desk. Haha....last night I was using a butter knife... 😛
