As a Tennessee native, who interviewed at both schools last cycle, I have to respectfully disagree with the majority opinion. Yes, as a current WCU student, I am definitely biased but WCU was my first choice after the interviews.
Reading a few comment above me, there appears to be a lack of knowledge about WCU. We have received the highest provisional rating that can be achieved at this point. Our "hub concept" of clinical rotations is one that the AOA is looking at with great interest. WCU is working to set up a 1:1 preceptor/med student ratio at our clinical rotations. Our faculty averages over 25 years of experience teaching in medical schools. WCU only sends out secondaries to only about 1/3 rd of their primary applicants and only interviews 6 people per day. (Our ADCOM knows the applicants academically and as individuals.) WCU is looking into setting up AOA residencies in Hattiesburg within a few years.
Each school is unique and will appeal to different people. LMU is a great school and will provide a great education & opportunities but I believe that WCU will be in the top tier and take a back seat to nobody. To paraphrase a line from one of Grace's posts last year: "I had to defend my school"
