Would it be worthwhile for me to do EK 1001 Physics along with the BR physics passages? I am asking because EK 1001 questions aren't passage-based so I am not sure whether doing them is an efficient use of my time.

Thanks

If you have time to do both, then do both as it definately wont hurt you. But if you are limited in time, then I would figure out what type of problem you have trouble with the most. There are usually 3 sets of pure physics/chemistry problems not associated with passages. So, that comes out to roughly 18 questions, add a few more in for random questions in passage sets that arnt associated with the passage...and your probably looking at around 30 questions without passage reference. Of those 30, probably 65% are physics. Thats a lot of points right there if you dont do well on those. But then again, theres probably an equal amount or more of passage based problems.

Personally, I never used the Berkely review's physics book, but I have heard they are great. If they are anything like their Verbal Reasoning book, which I loved, then I would definately say go for it. But, I was studying for the exam, I used EK and Kraplan books and was able to score an 11 on the real exam.

i've heard that EK is miserable in physics, the best is Berkeley and NOVA

i've looked this up extensively because i too am weak in physics.

As previously mentioned, if you have time to do both, definitely do so. EK 1001 Physics is a good tool for identifying your weaknesses and helping you nail down the basics.

The general Physics, chemistry, o-chem and Bio books from EK, in my opinion, are horrible. Their coverage of the material is very, very shallow and they focus primarily on memorizing the information rather than understanding concepts. However, their 1001 questions books and the 101 Verbal Reasoning passages I thought were extremely helpful.

BR Physics passages are awesome. They can help you review concepts while testing your test-taking skills. You should look at timing yourself when taking the BR Physics passages.

EK 1001 Questions- great practice.

Do both if you have the time. If not, try both and see which helps you most and stick to that.

Good Luck!

The answer is YES..i sucked at physics at the onset of my preparation but used EK alongside TBR and am OK with it now. EK really gives you the building blocks in the form of discrete shotgun questions that will help solidify a concept via repetition. However; its not enough....you need to learn how to position all of the concepts in an integrated system...enter TBR with all of the passages!!!! GL

I agree that BR physics is great. I tried Kaplan & EK, and gave up on both. However, before I start BR, I would probably brush up a little more on physics. When I started their passages, I was literally getting 1-2 right, and it freaked me out. So I decided to start with EK 1001 since those questions are a lot easier, and drills the formulas into you. After going through most of the 1001, I went back to BR, and they weren't so bad.
