who would y'all recommend to a first time internet website designer? (aka, me). godaddy.com has been recommended to me, but i'm curious what people in the tech forum had to think. the package deals they offer beat most other places, and are usualyl cheaper too boot.

thanks!

Dreamhost.com has some great deals. They do host some porn sites, but I have hosted 3 websites (including a personal website) without any problems whatsoever. Nobody even knows that Dreamhost also hosts porn sites.

They have some of the best packages available for storage space, data transfer, and features (mySQL databases, etc.). Make sure before you sign up for a webhosting plan that you pay attention to the amount of data transfer that is included with the plan. If you have a site with a lot of photos (I have a photography website for family/friends), then you will likely need a lot of data transfer. Underestimate the amount required and it could be costly in excess fees/penalties.

Try Itsjusthosting, I'm with them and the support and uptime is great. Plus they're very affordable. Definitely recommended.

asmallorange has been recommended a lot by others, you should check them out.

WOAH!! just realized that the thread came back from the dead....4 years dude!??!!?

It really depends on the type of site you're trying to build. GoDaddy often gives you some good discounts (just make sure to read all the fine print).

I would suggest you take a look at WebHostingPad : unlimited bandwidth, databases, disk space, hosted domains, etc...
They have an on-going promotional offer of only $1.99 per month.
