Website for the skull anatomy ?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't know of any websites but when I was in Head and Neck I bought a plastic skull, it helped out immensely when learning the head anatomy. However, I am a visual learner so your mileage may vary.

This isn't really PC but it sure works:
Oh - Olfactory
Oh - Optic
Oh - Oculomotor
To - Trochlear
Touch - Trigeminal
And - Abducens
Feel - Facial
A - Vestibulocochlear (auditory)
Girl's - Glossopharyngeal
Vagina - Vagus
Ah - Accessory (Spinal Accessory)
Heaven - Hypoglossal

read them out loud 1000 times or more, if needed,

they will come out natural by then. Best method ever.

I use this for the nerves (less vulgar than the previous one, although the vulgarity might help you remember!):

On Old Olympus' Towering Top A Fin And German Viewed Some Hops.

For their components (S=Sensory, M=Motor, B=Both):

Some Say Marry Money But My Brother Says Big Boobs Matter More.

What else do you need? We're doing neuroanatomy right now.

I actually memorized them and their associated information in about 15 minutes today. I'm using the mnemonics to spur me if my mind goes blank during the exam. They aren't hard to learn at all.

how do you remember which cranial canal each come out ?

Simple memorization. That one's even easier, since there are fewer items, and they're grouped sequentially:

I: Cribiform plate
II: Optic foramen
III, IV, V1, VI: Superior orbital fissure
V2: Foramen rotundum
V3: Foramen ovale
VII, VIII: Internal auditory meatus
IX, X, XI: Jugular foramen
XII: Hypoglossal canal.

Basically, you're just proceeding posteroinferiorly along the cranial cavity as you go through the nerves. 7 items is right at the limit of what the average Joe can easily memorize; I bet if you put some effort into it, you'll be fine.

Thanks everbody for your help !

It's really help me alot for my studying.

why don't you just by the atlas of the human skull by sampson?

Hi stargirl !

I have all the books, but those tricks help me alot. My brain sometime goes blank during the exam.
