Wedding bands

I'm divorced now, but when I was married it stayed at home. Wore it in non-work situations.

I keep it on under sterile gloves.
I don't believe gloves are permeable during a 5 minute procedure.
If I ever puncture a glove, I'd have to throw the whole kit away.

There are multiple options. As you see, some people continue to wear the wedding band. I've seen some that would take it off for a procedure and pin it to their scrubs. Some females would slip it into a necklace they wore.

I'm not really a jewelry type of person anyway. Plus I was more afraid of accidentally losing it, for example if I took it off to walk into an MRI room or for some other reason. I have a steel bracelet that I wear for religious reasons. I either push it up onto my upper forearm or take it off. I've managed to lose that once, and that is not even expensive.

I was also concerned about theft if I took it off. I've had a stethoscope also walk away in a matter of 10 minutes -- of course nobody saw anything.

But to each their own.

I lost my 1.5 carat diamond ring in the OR last year. So I would advise all ladies to not wear their engagement rings. I think it might have slipped off when pulling gloves off (although I truly have no idea how it was lost). Thank God for insurance!!!!

What in the world kind of ring was this???😛

I routinely wear my ring and watch and pens into the 3T scanner. Only my watch gets pulled a bit when I get close to the scanner.

I don't wear it to work.
#1 I don't like the feeling/weight of jewelry or watches.
#2 I don't like the feeling of wet skin under metal (b/c we wash our hands so often).
#3 I don't want to lose it. Have you seen the prices for precious metals these days? It's the only thing I've owned that has appreciated in value.

I don't.

Of course, I never wear my wedding ring except for formal/ special occasions, but even if I did, I wouldn't wear it to work.

When we were married, I was a firefighter and my wife understood that wearing a ring on that job could potentially be dangerous. She got used to the idea that I only wore it off duty and it doesn't seem to be an issue now.

Never tested it. Never wanted to test it.

Silver? Platinum? Not sure. Looked metallic.

I used to know around the time I got married because I went shopping with my mom, but have forgotten by now.

I've been married over nine years now and my wife is perfectly fine with me not wearing it to work. Plus when I'm in OB the nurses go bats*it crazy if have it on during an epidural.

Plus I took it off one time for an epidural, and spent a few hour looking for it.

Thanks for the advice guys- I think I'll be leaving it at home. I'm going to lose it in like a week haha

Problem solved?

Always wear my ring and a watch. In the OR I take both off for epidurals and central lines, otherwise they stay on. In the ICU I take them both off for all procedures. My watch has a rubber/synthetic band with a buckle. I put my ring on my watch band, buckle it and put it in my back pocket. Haven't lost either one yet.

Prediction: the new wife is really going to love you not wearing your wedding ring.
