Well something weird happened. I completed my secondaries in early-mid October, and I got a rejection letter at the end of November🙁. I just got an e-mail earlier stating:

We were pleased to receive your application for admission to the School of Medicine. The tremendous volume of applications for the limited number of positions available makes it impossible to interview every eligible applicant. Due to the highly competitive nature of medical school admissions, we regret that your application did not receive approval for an interview at this time. Therefore, the School of Medicine Admissions Committee has placed your application on Hold.

We are still in the process of reviewing other applicants. If you have additional grades or MCAT scores that may affect the final decision on your application, please e-mail [email protected]. We will not review any new letters or other materials at this time.

Please be assured that every consideration will be given before a final decision is rendered.

WTF?? What does this even mean - am I rejected or placed on hold without an interview (I didn't even think they had a category like that?)

Yeah it's called a hold. Sorry. 🙁

The latter.

What the ****?? I didn't even know there was even a category of "on-hold for an interview" after they sent me a rejection letter ~3 months ago. Guys, obviously I'm not complaining, but I was just weirded out....and pleasantly surprised! I do have grades that I can e-mail to the person the e-mail talked about, but I shouldn't mention anything about getting a rejection letter sometime ago, right? Thank you guys for all your advice.

No need to mention the previous letter. As for the grades -- if they've improved, go for it! Good luck!
