So I go to a school where they credit the IB/AP credit one gets from highschool. So most schools from what I know of consider highschool credit like transfer credits. So like on your official gpa it would say like bio 8 credits or something like that. My school just gives you actually credit of the class you're skipping e.g. you got some bio credit from AP/IB, you get credited the bio 173 credit.

I'm just curious because I need to calculate my science gpa which I got most of my credits by taking a pass-out test for many of the classes. It doesn't count toward my official gpa which sucks so I assumed it didn't count but people are telling me it does. My school's also weird in the fact that they will send a letter to the school you're applying to ensure them that the transfer/highschool credit are legitimate and count toward pre-reqs.

Regardless, if the case is that they don't count toward gpa, I should have just pretended I was dumb and used the lower science classes to boost my gpa ; ~ ; My science gpa with the credits would be amazing, now they just meh

The only way schools usual accept transfer credit from AP/IB tests is if it counts as a class, like you've listed above.

No they don't count, if you have 19 hours of AP classes completed, and 12 "real hours" with 2 A's and 2 B's your gpa would be a 3.5 for 31 completed hours.

At most universities the pre-reqs are weed-out courses, so higher science courses aren't necessarily harder. You should definitely be able to maintain high grades despite skipping some pre-reqs. It would probably be beneficial on your application you can take more science classes than the average person.

Make sure the schools you want to go to accept AP/IB credit, otherwise you will have to retake the classes.

Only a handful accept AP credits. Most don't.

Am I reading it incorrectly or did it not say 18 schools don't accept it

18 outright do not accept it. And a large amount say it depends, so there is a chance they don't accept it. Why give a school any reason to not accept your application? My advice to people, avoid AP credits and just take the regular classes for pre-reqs.

But yes you are right, a minority of schools do not accept AP credits. 2/3 of schools however accepts them on an individual basis.
