I am currently a freshman pre-dental student at my University, and I can honestly say that after being on these forums and looking into all the stages leading up to dental school, I am excited! I just want my junior year to start so I can start studying for the DAT, I want to see those interview and acceptance letters, and I want to work my butt of for it! For some reason the thought of working extremely hard towards something I really want is exciting. Not that I'm not working hard now, I'm volunteering, shadowing, getting good grades, and all the other necessities. Did anyone else get like this?

I was like that freshman year. I'm glad you're excited! I hope you keep that enthusiasm throughout the entire process, you're gonna need it 😉

It's great to be excited but do NOT wish away your early undergrad years. Focus on keeping your GPA up, getting a bit of shadowing in, volunteering, but also focus on getting involved with clubs and pursing you interests and making friends. You sound extremely motivated but also remember that dental school adcoms would much rather accept someone with a 3.8 who has tons of involvement around campus than someone with a 4.0 who was only in their predental club.

Omg. No. You'll regret saying that later

But really, it's great you know what career path you want! With that in mind, you can just schedule the right classes, fit in some shadowing, etc and then just have fun!

This might sound dumb/obvious, but don't forget to make friends and live a life too lol. I remember for the couple months I intensely studied for the DAT, I basically hid in a cave while life passed me by. Some people hide in their cave their whole undergrad, kinda depressing imo
