He has only been in practice for four years. His office hours are now reduced to: Tuesday- Thursday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

He either already has money or is only looking to be comfortable.

At any rate, this profession just keeps looking better and better!

for four years only? Is he a specialist? I know orthodontists hardly work any days lol. So your dentist opened his practice right after dental school?

I don't think i would want to only work 3 days a week just 4 years out of dental school. But when I'm older, I would probably do that lol, that is, if i can 😛

my dad is a 54 year old dentist and for as long as i can remember he has only worked mon-thurs....10-4 with an hour lunch break.
Recently he's been working longer hours, but that just goes to show you how flexible it really is.

My dad is a dentist also... he's 56... he has two offices and works about 3 hours in each... 3-4 days a week. I love that he has been around for so much of my life. And to think he wanted to be an MD! 🙂

I spoke to a dentist who only does procedures on mentally handicapped pts in a hospital practice only. He told me he had been practicing 25 years, and said that his office practice was very stressful. About 70% of his revenue went into his overhead. He said that even though he does not make as much now, he enjoys this type of practice more.

His other advice is don't take up any sports which can damage your hands. He lost 6 months of practice (and income) after he injured his wrist.
