So much for aspirations of returning to study full time with a view to doing medicine eventually, at least for now. I had to stop taking my meds, because of side effects (no I'm not going to say what sort of side effects, don't wanna be asking for medical advice). My Psych is back next week, so making an emergency appointment with him to discuss alternatives, but I've been off the Seroquel for almost 2 weeks now, and I'm fast beginning to realise sans medication I'm nowhere near stable enough to even consider any form of full time study.

This was my second try with Seroquel. Last time some GP decided that 1200mg daily was a perfectly suitable dosage for someone who hadn't even been diagnosed with a psychotic type illness at that stage, yes, hello extrapyramidal symptoms and first signs of Tardive Dyskinesia 🙄 I thought I'd be okay this time around on a lower dosage. Turns out, not so much.

Thanks for all the advice re study etc I've received in this forum. Guess it's back to the drawing board for me for the time being.

No treatment advice, but I sometimes think some people who went to medical school would've been better off becoming PAs or NPs. It's not because these people were lesser clinicians but the sheer sacrifice. IF you're a PA, in the US, you still make good money, won't have to go through an intern year where you're not getting much sleep, and the exam requirements are not as hard. You could have a life and I don't fault anyone for trying to be happy.

Good luck and I hope you get better.

Thanks for the encouragement 🙂 I am beginning to see/think more that I can still help people, and do good, without having to risk my own mental health/stability by doing the whole med school route. I already do a lot with my volunteer work for organ donor awareness, plus there's outreach work, social work, basic counselling. 🙂

Trying to think positive 👍
