Starting a new thread for those who applied to West Coast's OTD program for Fall 2019! Here are some of my stats to get us going:

Undergrad: CSUN B.S. Public Health, Minor in Psychology
Cum GPA (last 60 units): 4.0
Pre-req GPA: 4.0
OTCAS GPA: 3.55
Work Experience: Rehab Tech in a SNF 40 hrs/week for over 1 year
Volunteer Experience: 100+ hours inpatient, 40+ hours peds, 150+ hours as a Public Health Intern in a speciality school for children with dev dis

I interviewed on March 22nd, and still haven't received an update. I saw from another thread that we should be expecting updates by mid-April. I'm aware that people got interviewed on March 1st as well. Who else interviewed already? Has anyone heard back?

I graduated from CSUN too, nice lol. With that said, I have yet to hear anything back as well so y’all aren’t alone in the waiting game.

Tbh, I’m kinda worried about not getting in so I’m applying to 2 more schools 😛

Oh nice! I graduated last spring lol. I feel you, I’m worried about getting in too. Honestly I’m taking a risk and really hoping I get accepted because I haven’t even taken the GRE yet ☹️

But don’t give up hope too soon, you still have a chance! What 2 schools were you thinking of applying to?

Aye! Shout out to CSUN! Also graduated Spring 2018 in Kinesiology (applied fitness). I already got into a program (NSU) starting next month, so I decided not to apply to West Coast. Didn't realize they would be giving decisions this early (as apps are due in May), so maybe I should of.. Got rejected from CSUDH and still didn't hear from USC. At least I got in somewhere, so I can't really complain. But I wanted to stay in the LA area.

Do you guys know how many people apply/accept for their OTD program? Just curious how competitive it was.
 
Yeah I interviewed on March 1st. And I still have not heard back, I was told that I would hear back around mid april.

I graduated Spring 2016 so it’s been awhile for me lol. As for the GRE, from what I understand, they don’t need it so you should be okay

I’m not giving up on hope necessarily, just keeping my options open lol. There’s one school I’ve been in contact with for awhile now so it’s not completely new.

Anyhow, the two are:
1) University of St. Augustine - San Marcos/Austin campus

2) American International College (in MA, so I’m hesitant to actually apply here cuz of how far it is from family and friends)
 
You should be hearing soon. I just received an email letting me know I was placed on the waitlist. Hopefully I can still get in! :xf:
 
For those who interviewed for both the OTD/MSOT does anyone know when we will hear back for the MSOT program?

I applied only got the MSOT program and got an email saying for those who already interview should receive a final decision end of May (Accepted/denied/ waitlisted). They're also continuing to interview people since their app cylce doesn't close until June.

End of May is going to take forever !! Lol
 
I got accepted into the OTD program Good luck to everyone who’s on the waitlist! I’ve read so many forums of people getting into a program from the waitlist, so I’m wishing you all the best!

There is still a chance! If you don’t mind me asking, when was your interview? And did you just hear back from them today about being waitlisted?
 
Hi everyone! I was also placed on the waitlist for the OTD program, and I applied for the MSOT program as well.
Best of luck to everyone waiting!! It'll be tough to wait until end of May to hear back about the final decisions since I had my interview on March 1st.

Exactly! Still a chance 🙂 I interviewed on March 22nd and just heard back yesterday. Looks like someone interviewed March 1st and just heard back. This is of course for the OTD as we have to wait until the end of May for decisions on the MSOT program.

Yes, I received one. I would contact Mary if you haven’t heard back
 
My interview is in June. Seems so late compared to everyone else. OTD Fall 2019 and MSOT Spring 2020 interview.
 
Just got an email and I am wait listed to their program!

It is ok though. I got into another program and I am waiting to hear back from two other schools.

At least you got into another’s program so that’s still good news! Did you apply for OTD or MSOT? Also when was your interview?

OTD! My interview was on March 1st. I got into two other schools so most likely I will take my name off the wait list.
 
I received a final decision notice from Mary on April 18, and got accepted! Sending everyone positive vibes, especially those who are on the waitlist and waiting to hear back! 😊

Congrats on getting in!! You were placed on the waitlist at first, right? Is it okay if I ask you what your stats were? I am new to this forum and was also placed on the waitlist.

Major: Psychology and social behavior
Overall GPA: 3.53
Pre-Req GPA:3.2-3.4


Extra-Curric: pre-ot club, pediatric therapy intern directly under an occupational therapist 100 hrs), (work) behavior therapist, occupational therapy aide at pediatric clinic for a year and a half, recreation leader and craft specialist for my local city under the community services office for 5.5 years, special needs caregiver, worked as a caregiver at a church for children briefly

Volunteer: elementary school OT clinic (189 hours), pediatric outpatient clinic
(125 hours)

LOR:
3 OT’s, 2 former supervisors and a professor.

Hey everyone! I just got the email saying the deadline is June 14, 2019. Anyone know when the cycle opens up again after June 14th?
 
Does anyone know if accepting an offer to the doctorate program would remove you from consideration for the masters program?

Thanks! If I ask a professor/OT for a LOR now when the next OTCAS cycle hasn't opened yet, where would the letter go/be submitted in the meantime? Or would they have to hold off on it until the next cycle opens? When is a good time to ask for LORs?
