Hey everyone, I'm kind of a newbie on this forum. Currently I'm at my first semester at a CC. Due to family reasons I was not able to attend the college I wanted to and was forced to come here. Lately I have been thinking about applying to WVU for spring of 2015. I know it's pretty certain I'll get in but I was wondering, I will be a biology major on the pre med track. Is WVU a reputable school for pre medicine? Would I be likely to get into med scho through here? Thank you for taking the time to read my question and I look forward to hearing your feedback!

First, if that is a picture of yourself, change it. Anonymity is a good practice to follow on this forum.
Secondly, yes, you'll be fine if you attend WVU. You can get into medical school through there if you put your work in (same goes for any accredited 4yr institution)

Your undergraduate name/prestige has very limited effect on your medical school prospects. The only two instances where a prestigious/top-ranked school might give you an edge happen when either:

1) You are trying to get into a top medical school. At the tip of the ivory tower of medicine, your undergrad name does have a minor impact.

or

2) You somehow end up with a less than ideal GPA. A 3.3 from an average school will make MD admissions extremely difficult. But a 3.3 from a top-ranked school will have a markedly reduced negative impact.

So go to WVU, engage in meaningful activities (both related and outside of medicine), and most importantly, graduate with a high GPA. Aim for a 3.6+.
