They have articles on it in the local newspaper websites like LA Times (not sure if the Chapman students in the one article i read were all that bright..no offense to the majority of them heh) and in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin (
www.dailybulletin.com) if you search around a little bit. I believe both school websites also have links to articles and other bits of information. There is quite a bit of speculation, which would be natural, from everyone on campus, but I think among my classmates at least, the excitement has sort of toned down for the time being as we worry about more important matters like exams.. heh.
If the merger actually goes through, I believe my classmates (graduating in 2005) will graduate under a slightly different name than the Western University of Health Sciences.. or maybe not... who knows? We will still graduate under COMP (College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific) which is important, but Western's name might change a little bit. Personally, I think there are lots of pros and cons to look at with the merger and a lot of things that still have to be looked into, but I'm sure they're seriously looking at it.
Actually, I know a few other DO schools have merged in perhaps similiar instances such as Nova and CCOM. I would be interested in hearing how those mergers turned out.
