I'm 8 credits away from completing my associates at Madison Area Technical College and am intereted in getting a BA from WGU. My only concern is that it's a pass/fail system and the records indicate that a pass = 3.0 (B). Hoping any former or current WGU students can chime in with experience how WGU grades appear on medical school transcripts.

Not a WGU student but this seems like a situation in which you might want to consider re-locating for medical school purposes. If this is something that you're truly committed to, and can afford the move, I think that solid As will demonstrate competence for your medical school application much better than a 3.0. 3.0s barely make the initial screening cut.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: GPA & MCAT are the most important parts of your medical school application. Chose wisely and good luck 🙂

I'm just wondering if medical school transcripts will see the pass/fail as a grade or not because I've read conflicting information. I've read on reddit and other fourms where some are saying a pass = a 3.0 while others say medical schools do not give a gpa for pass/fail.

If your transcript will say "Pass" or "fail", unless stated on your actual transcript, medical schools generally assume a "Pass" to be a C grade (2.0), but it won't actually count towards any GPA. In addition, some medical schools won't even accept pre-reqs as a pass grade, they want an actual letter grade.

If I were you, I would just attend a different university, as per medical school reasons. Good luck!

One thing to consider: WGU has a unique system but it is still functionally 99% online, which some medical schools take issue with. You're also in state for a lot of solid inexpensive universities.

it's little more than a diploma mill. if you have to do an online school, try the global/online/adult divisions of real schools like ASU, UMUC/UMCG, etc.

I agree with the above. If online is your only option, go for online through an established brick and mortar university. There are plenty.
