For question 3 on the Western application, I am unsure of what to put for "Describe your participation in community service activities in a medically underserved or economically disadvantaged community". What do you put if you have non? What should I put, I have plenty of volunteer, but no meaningful ones in a underserved/econ disadvantaged community.

If you scroll through the western school thread they discussed this on there, I can't remember the advice though.

I asked a current student this and an alumni who wrote me a letter the same thing. They told me that if you do not have anything very meaningful then you should describe something that you might like to do in the future or use an experience that you do have and relate it as best you can to the question. That was kind of tough for me too. Good luck with that.

Sorry I can't help with your question, but I was wondering if you know of other schools that emphasize this type of experience in their app. I am applying for the upcoming cycle and have been working in underserved/rural areas (IHS, etc) since I graduated pharmacy school. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

JMC - PSAP (Physician shortage area program): show that you are located or have a desire to serve in a MUA/P (Medically underserved area/population). I am sure there are other programs out there. However, most programs want you to stay in the area - JMC PSAP mission is to keep PCP in the Delware and Pennslyvania area.

Hope that helps. Good luck in the application process

It must have lagged and you pressed submit numerous times in hopes that the page would reload. Happens to the best of us.

Basically this. I was able to answer this question based on my experiences, but their previous question was basically asking the same thing about research, which I had no experience in. I didn't try to fake it or anything, I just explained some research that I had done (non-science related) and how my focus was elsewhere. Just a few sentences. I then went all the more in-depth on the other two questions.

Basically, play your application to its strengths. Good luck! :luck:
