I have a horse in the hospital right now, yesterday when they scoped her there was 10-15 students observing. The were all impeccably well behaved, just really stood there, very alert, kept quiet, as everything was explained to me, and they even laughed at my jokes!!
I must say, that I think they are getting great experience, that place runs like clockwork, and the vet that is looking after my horse, seems to be the most knowledgeable, professionally vets I have ever met!!

Interesting, I know one of the vets that works there. I actually did an externship there a couple years ago. I wonder if they've moved yet? There was talk of building a new hospital on English Road in Chino Hills - are they there or are they still on Yorba?

There definitely weren't that many Western students there when I was doing my externship with a fellow classmate. I guess things changed, probably due to them being in their clinical rotations now?

They are still on Yorba. I did not really pay too much attention to the students, so my figure was only an estimate, but it certainly seemed to have a few my horse had a bit of a fan club (hardly surprising really!).

I am waiting for the phone call to go and watch the surgery - I think I am the last one today. Do you know if the students will be present then too? Because a few people I know are coming to spectate (I believe one is bringing popcorn). I did offer to let the intern do the surgery for a negotiated price but was told no! Probably best really!

I spoke to one of the students today, it turns out my timing was excellent, as they had just studied the information and a couple days later I bring my horse in and they got to see it in real life

Hello! I am a Western Student and my class is currently in clinical rotations and yes we have one Equine rotation at Chino Valley. There are 6 students in rotation for each group.

Of course they are! They are all vet students, I hope they are interested 😛

She is being scoped everyday so they can see how they heal - I just I don't have to pay for all of them!!

I must say I think the hospital is fabulous - I could not be happier with care my young girl is getting!! Maybe a student can come home with her, and do the after care too - hmmm, sounds good to me!!!

So did they get to watch the surgery?

Yeah if there were six of them I think they were al in the operating room.

I just learnt what we had done was quite rare, as well as them just learning made a lot of excitement.

I am really pleased with how my horse is/has been looked after, they are certainly a top notch facility!

Just an update - Stella is doing awesome - I rode her for the first time this week - she wa sa GEM!
