Hey all. I thought I'd start this thread for us because we seem to have a lot to rant about. This way we don't clog the waitlist thread with our insanity! lol I can't wait to see some of us off this waitlist!!! Let's keep each other updated

Oh no, another thread for me to check and have my heart skip a few beats when I see it get bumped up! LOL. I'm right there with you two! I hope to hear soon, from any of the two schools I'm waitlisted at (Western and LSU) and of course neither of them rank you! sigh.....waiting sucks, especially because I've already been accepted to St. Matthews University in Grand Cayman, but am still holding out for Western or LSU.

Hopefully they will have the picking totally done for this round by this week and call people on Monday. I slightly wish that they would send out an email after the class is full after these next weeks so my life can get back to some semblance of normal (Until the first week of May when my other school maybe calling) Good Luck to us all!

I agree I wish they would let us know when the class is full. I think that's something that's ok to call and ask though, maybe in like 2 weeks if none of us have heard anything.

I hardly ever see south park but I did see that! That's funny you mentioned it because I was just talking to someone about that a few days ago.

Oh that was evil Tine! Today I was unwinding at the pool after my horrible histology lab practical final and I got a phone call from a 916 area code and FREAKED out! Especially because I was just checking my phone to see what time it was and didn't realize my phone was ringing (the radio was loud) and I accidentally answered it and hung up without realizing it! So I called the number back and it turned out to be the FAFSA advisor hotline or something like that. OMG I just about peed myself! LOL.

Tine....you're going to give the waitlisters a heart attack! lol I enjoyed a lovely day at the zoo and went on a bike ride by the lake. weather=amazing. It definitely took my mind off of the waitlist for a bit, HOWEVER, being at the zoo reminded me how much i love exotics and want to go to school so i can really get into it. ughhh

yes enjoy the weather now because it's going to be raining for a few days. i also went outside for a while today, without my phone! it's the weekend now, so we can try to relax for a couple days 🙂.

um yea t storms on sunday, and of course I have to work tomorrow when it will still be nice =( . So what does everyone think about the late apps to edinburgh? I've been considering applying in case western doesn't come through for me. Any thoughts??

I was too, especially after talking with flyhi. But I was looking at their website and I really couldn't find much information very easily. I can't find course descriptions or what electives they offer to see if they do a lot of exotics. Then I was thinking how much I don't like Europe, and would much rather be on the beach in the Caribbean 🙂 lol. So I'm going to sleep on that tonight and who know....maybe tomorrow I'll apply to both SGU and Edinburgh! haha.

I called Karen Hutton-Lopez. I don't think I could find her number on the website but it's in the emails she's sent us. I got it from the Waitlist FAQ email. I hope she tells you how many spots were left to fill. It's amazing how much more insane I get once Monday comes!!!!😱

haha i like the stick-poking-the-eye smileys. it's so frustrating, i feel so helpless! i'm fully aware that i'm more likely not to get in than i am to get in, but for some reason i cant just relax and see what happens. i'm not sure if i wished they ranked, because i'm not sure how high i would be ranked hehe. but i do wish i knew SOMETHING!!!

I hear you about feeling helpless, especially because I had pretty much resigned myself to applying again next year I just can't seem to let go of that little voice in the back of my head that says "there is still a chance...." very annoying

So I called today but I didn't get to talk to Karen, so I don't know how up to date this info is but here goes:

According to this person I talked to there are still 6 people who haven't replied, and 94 people are seated so far for the class. Now I think this sounds weird because how could it be that exactly 6 people haven't responded + the 94 to equal the class size. So I think maybe there are just 6 spots open still. This sucks, but as I said I don't know how accurate this info was. She also told me that they were waiting on those 6 people before they went to the alternate list, which conflicts with the info. Tine got that they were already meeting to pick alternates.

So it sounds bad, but I'm not sure how much of it is true. Boo to monday

I know it made me annoyed almost. I just didn't feel like the info was adding up, and I feel like it's impossible that the class is already that full! So many people were declining just on this website alone..bahhh. I think we should call everyday until we find out the truth! lol

I thought that too, BUT I asked if those 6 people had a specific deadline and she said yea about 2 weeks ago (so the April 15th deadline). So maybe the girl was just confused. I don't know but I can't wait to hear what you find out tomorrow!

Hey Guys! How is the waiting? I know it can be frustrating but the class fills up so quickly because they over accept in anticipation for students to decline to attend other schools. They also keep a few seats available for the students that didn't pass from the class of 2012. They may also be waiting for our class to take our final exams before notifying anyone. I know there are a couple of students in my class that are in the danger zone at this point, and a few that didn't pass last semester that are being invited back for next year. This is just my guess no hard facts to back it up though.
Good luck! and try very hard to focus on something other than vet school!

Yes, 4/27 at 12:53pm. I hope this helps your waiting process in some way. This was my second time being waitlisted and I know how incredibly frustrating it can be. I felt so trapped this past year. I was sure that I wasn't going to get accepted since I bombed my interview(again). I have to admit that the waiting, as painful as it was, was worth it. I am so fired up for vet school now! Keep me updated

I got an email from Karen. That is awful that someone is giving out completely bogus information at a time like this!! You should try calling again.

OK i just tried to call my advisor, and i started out by saying who i was and that i had just tried to call ms. lopez...and she interrupted me with "yes that was me you talked to". Ahh! lol so i said oh that's perfect because i was just calling because i just found out that i know someone from the alternate list who got an email from karen yesterday. So she thinks that the 6 people they are waiting on were actually called from the alternate list. That's all i got. i think in a couple of weeks when 2 of my prereqs finish i'll email again with the update, but other than that i'm just going to start applying for next year. sigh. if someone wants to call on thursday when ms. lopez gets back in town let us know if you find anything out.

dont give up hope just yet... I know someone in the class of 2012 and they said there was at least 1 person taht was called in during their first week of classes... (i think they turned them down because they were unable to attend with such late notice). I dont want to tell you guys to hold on till then because it is hard on the soul but dont give up all hope...😳

Just to clarify that person that was called off the waitlist during orientation week did come to Western and she is still here and doing well! She happens to be one of my friends. Any way there were people who were pulled out of the class during orientation week due to failure of completing their pre-reqs and there was one who failed a pre-req class over the summer, and another who just decided that Western wasn't for him and actually had a spot reserved at another school (totally unacceptable to be holding two spots for that long; personally glad that student is not a part of our class with morals like that)

So there is still hope.... I believe we started with 107 or 110 students due to the students that were held back from the previous year.
