Hello everyone,

I'm not too sure if anyone has posted a similar question to mine, but does anyone know how the WesternU/COMP application is going to work? I check the AACOM app and it says that we can apply to both campuses, but I'm wondering if the Lebanon campus is new or if anyone has any input on the program there. Would love to hear some advice.

Does WesternU/COMP in Pomona also prefer in-state residents? I'm from WA so I want t know if they have any bias against WA residents.

My friend is from WA and was accepted to Western in Pomona. I don't think they have bias against WA peeps or any other states for that matter. Don't quote me on that though because I'm not completely sure.

Not bias against, but according to the 2016 CIB I think it was 83% of students matriculated were from California, so they obviously have a bias

Hi there,
I am a 3rd year at COMP-Pomona. Honestly the Pomona campus is really hard to get into and I do think they have a bias for California students. The Lebanon campus is pretty new (since 2011). As far as the curriclum it's almost completely shared with the exception of anatomy and other smaller courses. Most lectures are streamed from Pomona to Lebanon in real time, and occasionally lectures are streamed from Lebanon to Pomona. I think in the future both campuses will be independent from each other as far as the curriculum goes, but I am not sure when this will actually take place. Lebanon is a small underserved area (but so is Pomona). In general the Pomona campus is more diverse than the Lebanon campus, and Lebanon has more of a concentration on lifestyle medicine than Pomona (although both are strong advocates for this). Hope this helps! Good luck with your application!

Does this school tend to weed out applicants if their physician LOR is not from a DO?

I applied 3 years back, had only MD letters, and was not from California. So it is possible. 🙂
