WesternU harassed me into failing. What do I do?

If I didn’t go to WesternU I would’ve been a pharmacist elsewhere already. But I didn’t get accepted elsewhere only WesternU and CalNorthstate.

Can you expand on how they "harassed [you] into failing?" Are (were) you a current or prospective student?

So I was

  1. Trapped between Renowned School A and School B. Obviously tempted to go to School A. No other choice.
  2. Was harassed all around and failed, and reason was entirely pretextual and mocked my struggles knowing this since Day 1.
  3. Nothing short of being set up to fail in all context imaginable doesn’t take a genius to see this.
  4. If they want to acknowledge the truth sooner or later they will in the form of harassment.
 
So I was

Not trying to be sardonic, but #s 2-4 sounds just like the soldiers I work with in the military...so, on a lighter note I’ll tell you what I tell them.

“What are you going to do about it? Dwell on it? Take courage and step up to the challenge? Remember, you signed the contract (acceptance letter) to better yourself. Now show them what your worth.”

They don’t want you to quit. If you do, they lose money. It’s a business. If it’s not sexual harassment or forces you to lower your moral standard (key word “forces” you) then be more specific...what harassment calls for a civil matter (or does it)? If not, step up with friends and family support and grind through it. Lot of debt even with a degree if you ask me but hey, if it’s your dream then try again

For an established school like WesternU, if you have to question and second guess whether or not you’ve been mistreated chances are you have and there’s some truth. If everyone in all hierarchy harasses you then it started from the top.


Students all come from UCLA/UCI (~80%). Everyone has the same exams, same standards, same competence. Your job IS to try your best given there’s no room for error. Difference between A and C is like two questions. Your passing IS a given indication you tried your best. It’s the school’s job to ensure this happens (via their 1000+ experts) not yours. It’s never to say slack off but you’re really forced to do your best no matter what not that anyone wants to otherwise. School is an example where students sit back and put their best interest in the schools hands to ensure crap doesn’t happen beyond their control..like being harassed.

But to your original question : harassed into failing.

Unless you can give a specific example of what harassment(s) you’ve gone through your not going to get a specific answer (your outline was not specific). Since the story is one-sided then I assume you already appealed with documentation every established school has with witnesses, time sequence, names etc etc. If your kicked out then go elsewhere if they “mess with your head” too much. With a written trail with said university you won’t have a problem having another school accept your loans.

Or fight it, return to said school and get mocked again. Those are your options.
 
The reasons you listed are vague. What specifically have they done to want to make you fail?

If they resort to harassing you and crossing inappropriate lines and prevented you from having a peaceful education like everyone is afforded, there is something wrong with them (and their team of 1000+ experts, term used loosely)


I applied to all schools in Cali. But got accepted to You-Either-Know-It-Already-Or-You-Don’t WesternU (like pharmacy ivy league of Cali upon discovering) and a newbie school Cal Northstate (can’t speak much for them) Obviously chose WesternU.
I was forced to catch up like there’s a negative correlation between how selective the school is and the quality of some of the professors in lecturing the material. Is this a coincidence? No. They later mocked me by saying you study too much, by harassing me with personal info about myself that I never told them - Even shared my disability with everyone including students - very disturbing like a HIPAA/right to personal privacy violation, age (WHY ARE YOU NOT 26 ATTITUDE) grade pattern- my D’s then A’s was such a concern they expressed discrimination), and by saying you’re a mistake, (we) failed you, you study too much, you’re sad, assaulted me in multiple ways, degraded, sexually harassed me.
 
Or fight it, return to said school and get mocked again. Those are your options.

I’ve already reported them to multiple agencies. I should have reported them to news agencies or at least the police in some instances but it happened long ago. You saying get mocked again is like saying no one is going to give a manure. You’re right because these people are letting these professors harass with impunity. Students are nothing but objects with no rights.
 
Or you could sue.

Your emotions are clouding your judgment so much that you have yet to give specific examples. When I say mock I mean just that (words that caused you to fail). You let people get to you and bring you down yet I hear no specific examples of what they did.

4) shared disability with fellow students (only 17 million types....yet not 1 specific exampled event)

I didn’t hear the following:

1) gun to my head
2) stole my identity for tax purposes
3) quick pro quo
4) recorded meeting of faculty every Wednesday of a 30 minute session talking about how to get “substanceQ” kicked out of the program with the Dean giving the benediction and your pharmacology professor providing the invocation

Don’t come on an sdn forum saying “WesternU harassed me into failing what do I do” and provide NO specific examples (still yet...)

Since no one is going to give a “manure” (that’s what you said right?) reread my earlier post and DO what I said and leave a paper trail. Every university has a document to make informal and formal complaints. Document all the verbal beatings your getting and take it to HR on campus. Make 3 copies and when you apply elsewhere or make a case, you now have outside people that are required to start an investigation. YOU DONT DO the investigation YOU START IT with papers, witnesses, etc etc.

If you don’t want this happening to anyone else you do what I say. Don’t belly-ache online and make us do your homework. If you want opinions and advice give us facts not emotional broad one-sided statements. Let us know when you did your homework (class dismissed).

Why can’t you just understand and take it as it is? Why do I have to publicly disclose specifically what they did? (Which I did BTW...not smart to go into detail and let you chastise) Furthermore, is one disability more stigmatizing to the sufferer than another? Is HIPAA violation at your hospital more of a trauma than another? Says who? (I.e. Telling everyone you have a missing kidney vs saying you have a blood disorder, as long as they disclose to fellow students and later on being in your face about it, that is degrading— like you said—how dare you?)


Regarding number 4, that sounds exactly like what they would/could have done. Have a “meeting of the minds” and discuss about taking action against students. They made it very clear they do this.

As for number 3, it was quid pro quo.The dude would tell me “I’ve waited and waited for you,” (like to come through, exceed?) “I didn’t see it.”
Also said, I’m glad you came and talked to me now, I thought you weren’t comfortable with me. NO I WASN’T!

I am not going into details how they all became super annoying at the same time. In class it was subtle. (I made a mental note but then ignored them/moved on/next exam coming up). On rotation it was completely unrestraint where 30, 40 year old punks-alike have easy access to harass and an I-don’t-care-I’m- immuned/entitled/new position/can’t do this elsewhere- attitude. (Also ignored them until they crossed the line; like molesters it progresses in stages)

Case was closed when I reported them and they said case closed.

Case was closed when I reported them and they said case closed.

Did you report them with all the facts in your document? Do you have copies of said document? If so then OP that WILL remain on university files for "x" amount of years in a file outside the pharmacy as required. If this is the case, you move on. You did your part holding nothing back. Progress in your career elsewhere and reach your short term career goals.

OP if its not on paper it never happened. Its an unfair but solidified truth. The best thing you can do is voice out to others outside the department with documents at hand and someone WILL listen and keep said files. Justice may not be fair for you, but you keep the system in check and press forward.

I have a similar situation that happened to me and my spouse while I was in pharmacy school (government got involved). Im telling you it CAN be done and life WILL go on. Its bitter but in the end you will be alright.
