Taking preqs: Anatomy, phyio, micro, 2 biochems, etc is almost like a mini degree. Also, some students in the class has degrees in psych or even history, which is almost the same....

making it in is one thing, but the road to graduation is a whole new story...

I'm sorry, what are you trying to say? Someone needs a BS/BA in order to make it through pharmD? The OP did not specify what type of major, so it can be Econ,English,History, etc. Are you saying that it would help the student who got a bachelors in these degrees to excel in pharmacy school. Or, do you mean the OP should get a bachelors in something that is more science specific such as a Bio degree. Heck, what if they are a science major but majored in CS, or Physics, would that help them throughout pharm school. I think you only are referring to a Bio degree and that is not what the OP is asking.

so anyone want to actually answer her question, or you guys just want to continue to lecture her on the merits of earning a bs? Pharmdeez is right....a BS isn't required, it will help, but it isn't required.

A few of my friends have graduated from WesternU last year, and they did not have BS's prior to attending WesternU. Keep in mind though, the competition to get into Western has gotten alot tougher....so I can't comment if anyone got in without a bachelor's last year or this year.

This is my second time applying and last year I was wait listed without a degree. This year I have a degree and still have not interviewed.
The only person that I met who was accepted w/o a degree had a 4.0 gpa across the board. She could not speak English well but just rocked all the pre-reqs.

I heard thats pretty much the norm for many of the cali schools that applicants without bachelor's need pretty much a gpa higher than a 3.7 to be considered for a interview.

No, you do not NEED a BS/BA to get in. However, having a BS/BA does give you an upperhand when it comes to admissions. I know WesternU in particular will give you 5 freebie points just for having ur degree (I'm assuming that means Bachelor's). Will having a bachelor's help you get through Pharm school? If you retained anything from undergrad, then yes! If not, youre in the same boat as the majority of the class who doesn't remember much undergrad stuff. Hehe.
