I'm applying via TMDSAS/AMCAS and was wondering how to qualify a particular activity and where to put it.

I graduated with a masters that resulted in a first author publication. As part of the program, I had to host a seminar to go over my findings ( Like a lecture).
- its not a poster presentation (I used powerpoint).
- afterward the lecture I went straight into the defense of the thesis.

Any advice on how to bring this up or to even mention it?

Maybe just label it as "lectures" or "presentation"

I was allowed to teach a full class in undergrad on a topic I did research on I think I'm most likely labeling it as "guest lecturer" but in your case you weren't really a "guest" so I would think the former labels would suffice.

I was planning on labeling it as a research seminar presentation since it covers the bases. I didnt give a lecture to a class. It was an optional (to the students & staff) presentation attended mostly by faculty and a few students.

I just didnt want to overstep any lines by exaggerating it and red-flagging my application.

If this was in an academic setting and a requirement for your degree, I would leave it out of the experience section. If it was a podium presentation in another setting (at a conference or annual meeting) then it fits under the category "posters/presentations".

The first author publication, the research you did toward that publication, and the MS all make the point that you have research experience.

Isn't that just part of your thesis defense? You have to present your work and then your committee will then ask you questions in a closed door setting regarding your thesis and your presentation.

I don't think it qualifies as its own activity

I am aware of this. The reason I asked was because I did the presentation, and then the closed door defense on the same day. But LizzyM cleared it up. thanks for your input!

Why? You taught a course. Why would you label yourself as a guest lecturer? Just wondering.
