What are conditional acceptances like?

I was just wondering what conditional acceptances are like for anyone who as gotten one so far. I'm taking my DAT this august and am 60credits into my degree starting this fall. I intend to apply next summer when I have 90 credits, but I'm assuming that if I interview and everything goes great and I get accepted in December then I will have yet to finish my 4 years of undergrad (as I would still have spring semester of year 4 left over).

So what I was wondering is if I would get a conditional acceptance contingent on me finishing my bachelor degree. If this is the case would people be willing to share what their conditional acceptance was like - i.e. - GPA dependent, bachelor completion, etc.

Dependent on grades, background check - criminal history and deans certificate - disciplinary report.

well i have no criminal history, disciplinary history, and some certificates and i guess decent grades. Would they give a more lenient conditional or did you mean no conditional at all? Or i guess what i'm asking is whether they give conditionals only to people with criminal/disciplinary history and poor grades.

They just need to verify that your being honest on your application which they will only do after you are accepted and pay a deposit. Many people are accepted on December 1 w/o having spring/fall grades accounted for. The condition I that those grades must be reasonable. If they are all D's and F's your acceptance may be resigned. Hence "conditional" acceptance...you maintaining your grades!

Great that's what i was thinking, but i just want to get a feel for the ranges they ask for. Do they tell/expect you to maintain the average you applied with or is there a 0.1 gpa leeway or something like that?

Some say something like "acceptable" some say something like "at least a C in each class" some say something like "maintain current GPA" every schools will be a bit different.


The real of it is you need to finish your degree, not mess up with the law/your schools honor board or equivalent and maintain decent grades.

NYU's said "graduate on time with grades to the standard of what we based your acceptance on."

My GPA dropped .15 senior year but I at least got a C in everything. They didn't rescind it.

I don't understand where the confusion is at. Every acceptance is a conditional acceptance. Don't get below a 'C'. Unless an applicant is taking a gap year, they won't have their degree completed either. It should be finished by your expected grad date though.
