Hey folks,

This is my first semester in college. I am an early high school graduate, I am 16 years old. My dream medical school is UCI, I am contemplating between a Psychology Major or Public Health major at (UCI). I want to complete some or all of the Pre-med prereqs. in cc. Any Advice?

1. Major doesn't matter.
2. Keep up a good GPA.
3. Score well on the MCAT.
4. Engage in activities you enjoy and are meaningful to you.
5. Shadow doctors of different specialties.
6. Get clinical experience and patient exposure.
7. Research if you are interested in that.
8. Be a leader.
9. Have fun! You are only 16. You have all the time in the world. Don't struggle to graduate early from UG as well.

Hey. I graduated High school early too. Like stoic said, major does not matter at all. Major in something you like.

More advice: Get started on extra-curriculars early. Find something you enjoy, and stick to it. It'll benefit you a lot in the long run.

Also, don't go from a Uni to a CC, vice-versa is OK though.

Hey thanks for the quick reply, I started volunteering at a local hospital. Me being in cc, I want to take advantage of the paralleled major prep class/premed prerequsites. So far,I am leaning toward Punlic health.

10. Avoid any Institutional Action or legal problems.
11. Strategize to get to know key professors so you'll have good Letters of Recommendation.
12. Consider a teaching experience (TA, coach, tutor, mentor).
13. Give time to help the needy with an organization you care about.
