So here is the about me:
Going into my Junior year. Currently have a 3.1cGPA

My Freshman year I had a personal tragedy which sent my grades into a spiral my second semester.

My sophmore year I worked 40 hours a week to support myself which also negatively affected my GPA. The good news is my work was very community based and I got a lot of great experience from it.

My GPA if everything goes as planned will be a 3.5 when I graduate in 2012. I'm lowering my work schedule and will get to focus on school for the first time since my first semester! Yay!
I'm also an under represented minority-which I know people say doesn't help, but it couldn't hurt to throw it in there.
I'm an Arizona Resident as well

EC's Thus Far:
Two years of Pole Vault coach for my local high school
Super Sister- through the Big Brother/Big sister Program
Volunteer at the Food Bank
Coxswain of the crew team- basically "leader" of the boat
1 year of Research so far
Some shadowing- increasing at the start of this semester
Volunteer at local hospital
Volunteer at Church
Volunteer through Global Health Club

So my question is what are my chances? What schools should I be looking at? and lastly Any advice that you may have for me, or on anything I should do would be great 🙂 I appreciate it!

Seems like you have alot of EC's, leadership, clinicals, shadowing and all that jazz. I guess the two major factors will be what is your MCAT score and your GPA. High MCAT can open many many doors so aim for a good healthy score of 32+ (average from what i read 30.8 matriculation) Your GPA will go up hopefully and they will probably see that upward trend of 4.0s or high 3s and that will show the adcoms u got ur head in the game.

Maybe you should try and get a little bit more of research , many schools that are research schools look for this in applicants. It also comes down to what can of doctor you want to be.

MD vs DO. MD MCAT get in the 32s+ and DO 28s+. You will probably gain admission in some good schools.

Your EC's are great and good luck on ur MCAT

Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback. I plan on destroying my MCAT haha, so hopefully that will bring me in the range that I need to be in.
