Hello, I am gonna be finishing my BSN program and become a registered nurse this august. Due to personal issues, I am gonna switch my career. I want to prepare for dental school application after I get my nursing degree.

I have a overall GPA of 3.9. I am not a US citizen. I am planning take pre requisite courses like general bio, chem, organic chemistry in a local community college. Should I take these courses in major university or is it fine to take them in local community college? Some people suggested me to take those courses in major university because it will make me more competitive. But money is always the issue because I have to pay for non resident tuition. Local community college is a lot cheaper option for me

I do not have any research experience at the moment. I am planning to do one in the future. Is it always necessary to have the research experience?

Thank you,

I don't think it should hurt you. I have a BSN and have been a practicing nurse for 3 years. I would finish the prereqs at a university if possible. I would also shadow doctors in the meantime, but I do think that you should work as a nurse for awhile before doing so. You might end up loving it. I want more autonomy in my practice, but have loved everything I have learned and every patient I have encountered while working as a nurse.
