Hey Everyone,

By now you guys are admissions experts. You know the in's and out's of applying and chances of getting into a school. Please, please, please let me know of what you think my chances are with my scores. From sure, maybe, there's a slight chance to no way. I've spent the weekend studying away for my second attempt at the DAT and I would really like to hear your thoughts on my chances of getting into the 6 dental schools in California. The following is my grades, along with my classes. Some people just post their GPAs, but I feel like that can be an inaccurate description of the applicant. After that I have posted my DAT scores from April, I'm retaking at the end of July. But I would still like to hear people tell me I need to retake them because some people have told me I can get into some of the schools I'm applying to. I also posted a list of schools I am applying to. I have amazing LOE's and I am very involved with my college and local community. I have dental assisting certificates and have been to simulation courses at UNLV and UoP.

You don't have to post your entire transcript on here.
In the eyes of adcoms, you're seen as numbers.

Overall GPA
Science GPA
BCP GPA

No one is gonna have time to calculate it for you, except you.

Sorry, I don't have anything else to add, but it seems like your GPA is around the average applicant. Need a 20+ DAT for the tougher schools (UCLA, USCF), but if you can afford it, USC is one of the easiest to get into (19 DAT, 3.20 GPA). Good luck.

Yup you need a slightly higher DAT to be competitive at UCSF and UCLA. That said Western and USC probably best bet. UOP is 50/50 could solidify chances with higher DAT.

I would stick with your plan to retake.

I know this isn't the question you asked, but I wouldn't apply to MUSC or UNC with those stats.

Doesn't one need to be a Seventh Day Adventist in order to apply to Loma Linda? It would be similar to a honky applying to Meharry/Howard.

If that's the case, then there can't be that many 7DA's on SDN.

No, you don't NEED to be 7th Day Adventist to apply to Loma Linda, although if you check their website for admission stats you'll see that a majority of accepted students were SDA's. It is a Seventh Day institution after all.

Can you post your high school transcript in order for us to get a better gauge of your academic ability?

jk, retake the DAT though. A 14 on any section is basically an automatic no.

Forget the UC's and UoP with that DAT (No score above a 20 and a 14😱). Don't waste your time...study your butt off, retake and ace the DAT then you're all good!

I know a few people in the graduate programs at Loma Linda that are not Seventh Day. My best friend applied two years ago and had an interview there but turned it down because she was given acceptance to UCSF. She wasn't Seventh Day.

Thank you so much for replying. I know when I saw my scores I would have to retake but it's nice to hear it from others to motivate me to dominate it when I take it in 5 weeks. Good luck to all of you!
