I feel that my application is very limited in the extra curricular area, and I am hoping to get into a California school. Please let me know what you think my chances are at the California schools, although I am considering adding more.

Date of submission: June 15 (expected)

Overall GPA: 3.7

Science GPA: 3.88

Bio-Chem-Physics GPA: 3.85

DAT score (include AA and all sections): AA: 24, TS: 26,
GC: 26, Bio: 28, RC: 22, QR: 22, OC: 23, PAT: 21

State of Residence: CA

Undergrad Attended:

Major:

Minority?
No

Reapplicant? No

Nontrad? Yes as stated above

Shadowing Experience: About 115. Shadowed an orthodontist, 4 general dentists, an oral surgeon, a periodontist and an orofacial pain specialist (only once for the perio and orofacial)

Volunteering Experience: Very limited. About 15 hours in college. I expect that when I apply, I will have about 25 hours total. I am trying to get this done but still in the process of being accepted by a volunteer organization that I really want to be a part of.

Other Extracurriculars: none

Relevant Honors or Awards: none

School list: UCLA, UCSF, USC, UoP

Solid shot but I'd add more schools because you do seem a little bland on the ECs side. Schools want well-rounded people. Also, you didn't mention your LORs but make sure they're strong - weak ones can keep you out.

Make sure you have the majority of your shadowing hours done with a GP, as that's what you're going to dental school for.

CA schools are competitive to get into even being IS, so add about 5-6 schools OOS that you could see yourself attending.

Thank you so much for the advice, this is about what I thought. If you don't mind my asking a follow-up-- do you think it would be worth applying in July or August so that I have a bit more volunteer work to speak of? I will be starting a mentorship volunteer program that I think will be an amazing opportunity and will likely be a good thing for my application. I am not sure if its better to just apply sooner though..
