Hi guys, I am new to this forum and I saw honest opinions for other pre-dents. I would really appreciate any thoughts!

I am from Washington and currently finishing off my senior year at UW. I will graduate after summer with a biology major and a minor in chemistry. I took the DAT in December.

Stats:
Overall GPA: 3.91
DAT: PAT 24, QR 22, RC 30, BIO 24, GC 26, OC 26, TS 25, AA 26

Total shadowing hours: 40
Total volunteering hours: 70
Currently getting on the job training for dental assisting.

I seek advice because I fear that my application is not going to be well rounded. I know that my shadowing and volunteering hours are low (partly because of the pandemic has cancelled arranged shadowing/volunteering plans. But I understand everyone has been impacted somehow). I also don’t have any other notable achievements besides academics. I am currently still shadowing and volunteering to get my hours up, so I hope to have my application done by end of July. So another question I have is would submitting my application that late jeopardize my chances?

Any help is very much appreciated! 🙂

Your best shot is obviously in-state at UW, and you know the state of the dental school better than anyone else. Next would be out-of-state regionals like Oregon HSU. More description on your shadowing, but your volunteer clinical experience is still lower than par to me. Find some work under COVID-19 conditions that keep you safe; dental offices are slowly reopening so you won't have an excuse for much longer.

Submit your app as soon as possible. And like someone said above, add those incoming service hours later at the academic update. Also list ANY extracurriculars, awards, etc that can brighten up that part of your app. Despite what some may tell you GPA and DAT are king. I only had 20 hours of community service, but a 24 DAT and decent gpa and received 8 interviews, as an anecdote. You’re pretty much guaranteed an acceptance to dental school somewhere as long as you apply EARLY (like now), regionally, and to at least to 5-10 schools. Ivy league and other high profile schools will also appreciate your statistics.
